Hi!

I have been a member of SparkPeople since November of 2008. So much has happened since the last time I was on SP. I had lost about 70 lbs and then broke my back. I gained most of that weight back. Here I go again, and hopefully this time the weight will come off and stay off. I am somewhat limited in what I can do physically because of health issues so I won't be running any races or doing anything radical but I REALLY want to do what I can to get myself in better shape. I have some nutrition goals and know I will need lots of help and encouragement along the way to meeting those goals. I really want to totally eliminate sugar from my diet and eat a more plant-based diet. I am not saying that I will totally eliminate meat from my diet but I would like to drastically cut back on the meat.

My Goals:
My general weight loss goal is to make small goals and reach them one at a time and not beat myself up or set unrealistic goals!

My life goal is to fulfill what the Lord has called me to do and to make a difference in the lives of others.

Specific Short-term Goals:
*Get off some meds for BP and Diabetes.
*Have more energy.
*Be able to shop for clothes in a regular store.

Specific Long-Term Goals:
Get off ALL meds for Diabetes and BP.
Have energy to do what I want to do.
Reach my goal weight and maintain for life.

My Program:
Eat less.
Eat healthier.
Exercise 15 minutes a day to begin and gradually increase that.
Stay positive and motivated!
Support others.
Ask for support when I need it.

Personal Information:
I recently graduated from the University of Central Florida with a BS degree in Psychology and a Certificate in Victim Advocacy. I am currently looking for a job that will utilize these and hopefully allow me to work with victims as an advocate. I want to make a big difference in the lives of others.

Other Information:
My favorite book is the Bible. My favorite movie is "Pay It Forward" because of the message. It is a message that needs to be spread all over. I love watching anything educational like the Discovery channel, the History channel and the Travel channel. On the lighter side, I love The Golden Girls, The Cosby Show and Frazier.

“When was the last time you woke up and realized that today could be the best day of your life? Participate in your dreams today.
There are unlimited opportunities available with this new day. Take action on those wonderful dreams you've had in your mind for so long.
Remember, success is something you experience when you act accordingly. Success is not something you HAVE, it’s something you DO.”

Roses are red, yoga is great,
Who needs a Valentine when I can bench my own weight?
Violets are blue, and peanut butter is heaven,
I'll save you a kiss after rep number seven.
Bananas are yellow, and yogurt is Greek,
Squats are gonna be the only thing to make my knees weak.
Oatmeal is perfect, and veggies are divine,
The dream to be strong is what I'm making mine!

“You can be the most beautiful person in the world and everybody sees light and rainbows when they look at you, but if you yourself don't know it, all of that doesn't even matter. Every second that you spend on doubting your worth, every moment that you use to criticize yourself; is a second of your life wasted, is a moment of your life thrown away.
It's not like you have forever, so don't waste any of your seconds, don't throw even one of your moments away.”

I hope February is off to a healthy start for you, Spark friend! Remember to be your own Valentine! Keep your self talk positive, and love yourself for who you are now, not ten or however many pounds from now. You're worth it!
    Hugs,
    Pixie

Start now. Stay focused. FINISH STRONG! That is my goal for this month and all to come. I find that I start the month strong, then I let life get in the way and lose momentum and commitment toward the last half. That habit has lost more than one race. Starting now I am pacing myself, so as to not tax my bod and throw myself into this cycle again this month, saving some energy for that final thrust. If I fall, NOW is when I start back, for tomorrow may never come. I am maintaining focus, for as my friend and FlyLady say, Focus makes us FABULOUS. And I have my eye fixed on the target before me to make every step a strong one so I FINISH STRONG in February with an ultimate goal sighted for 2013.

Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win ~ 1 Corinthians 9:24, NASB.

Our race on this journey is our own, and we are our only opponent. Bettering self is the race we run. I dont know about you, but I find that it is more difficult to run against self than anyone else, for I am overly gracious and give excuse too easily for my falls. So, NOW, I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified ~ vs. 26-27. Making myself accountable with hope of encouraging others of you who struggle as I do, this is my prayer for us as we run our race this month.
