I'm 34 years old and from Poplar Bluff, Missouri. I'm a Christian, and above everything else I would like to grow closer to God this year and learn to wait on Him and be in His will for my life. I also want to lose about 50 pounds and improve my health. I have Type 1 diabetes, which is a constant challenge and motivation to improve. I've had it since 1999, but I have recently started using an insulin pump. I work at the local hospital, so I see a lot of the repercussions of not taking care of one's self. But through sites like SparkPeople, it's encouraging to see what making a few changes can do to improve physically!

Even though I was working on improving my health by getting the pump, I actually gained 20 pounds. I think it was because I got it right before Christmas and combined with all the temptation and knowing that I actually COULD eat those things on the pump, I went a little crazy. lol. Now I'm trying to control what I eat and my calories, plus incorporating more exercise. I've actually seen a 15 pound weight loss.

I have seen improvements in my health in other ways though. My A1C is down to 7.2 which I haven't seen in years. I have more energy now and have started learning piano again and working on my writing more. I think having extra hobbies and interests has helped me to lose some weight too. Before I was preoccupied with food and what I could and couldn't eat. Now I'm thinking about those other things!

1) 190 pounds: new haircut

2) 180 pounds: new shoes

3) 170 pounds: new jeans

4) 165 pounds: workout clothes

4) 160 pounds: New dress

5) 155 pounds: Elliptical

6) 150 pounds: Manicure and new couch

7) 140 pounds: New wardrobe and vacation



My Program:
No more than 1800 calories a day diet, low sugar, and exercise at least 30 minutes daily
