So close!

July 2010:

I'm so close to my goal weight! I've lost 65 pounds in the past 14 months, most of it with SparkPeople.

I never thought it could be done -- and certainly not so...sanely. Reasonable amounts of good food and moderate exercise? I'd struggled so long I never dreamed it could be so darn simple.

So I'm rocking a size 8 jeans and small to medium tops. I'm still weeding out clothes that are just pathetically baggy on me now. It feels good.

I still have a lot of mental work to do though. Many days my brain still sees FAT and I obsess a little more than I'd like over food. But it's still a work in progress and, overall, I am incredibly proud of myself and grateful for SparkPeople and all my SparkFriends!

May 2009:

I've been struggling with weight most of my life. This time I'm also focusing on eating less, not just "healthier" -- and it seems to be the key to success!

I lost my mom four years ago and drank more than I should have. Then I quit smoking. Then I turned 30. I suppose there's no wonder that I packed on the pounds pretty quickly.

I have a herniated disc that created some arthritis in my low back before I was even 30. (Actually, now they tell me I have TWO herniated discs!) I have always hated sports and NEVER liked being sweaty. And I am known for my baking skills.

Clearly, this whole fitness thing presents some pretty big hurdles for me. But I am finally feeling motivated, and I'm happy to ditch the excuses and embrace the challenge!

My Goals:
I would like to finally be comfortable enough with my own body that I am not constantly comparing myself to anyone and everyone around me. I want to be healthy and feel great!

My Program:
I am focusing on around 1,400-1,500 calories a day of food that I ENJOY and working out in the morning with Leslie Sansone before biking to work and back every day the weather allows it. I've also added some Leslie interval workouts for strength training. I am constantly trying to fit in the likes of yoga, tai chi and chi gong on a regular basis. (The best intentions do not always seem to yield the best results!) LOL

Personal Information:
I was born and bred in Chicago, and so far it looks like I am here to stay. I'm a nerdy copy editor who loves to read and listen to public radio. I live with my amazing husband and his 6-foot-long red-tailed boa constrictor, Eve. :)

Other Information:
I have fibromyalgia. I am working hard at leaving it at that -- a fact I just have to deal with and learn to work around as best I can rather than letting it run my life.

You know, Angie, you've been blessed, with a great number of gifts. Your insights, good taste, and savoir-faire. Friends who adore you, elements that support you, and spiritual laws that serve you. Yet, in my book at least, what really takes the cake, Angie, is that you get to be you.

I pulled a few strings,
The Universe

Thanks for your comment on my blog. I'm glad all is physically well with me and the little one, too. As we really want him to stay inside and grow for as long as possible.

I'm really looking forward to the changes ahead -- and am feeling relieved to have made a decision; and that I can embrace this new lifestyle.

Take care!

Hey there, I was doing some research, and found out the JawboneUP is the alternative to the Fitbit One, but the JawboneUP is the one that will wake you at the optimum time so you wake feeling refreshed. Just a FYI for you.....
