So much has happened to me since I started SP April 9th 2010. I've lost weight of course and regained some, I've learned to stop eating when full and I've made some great spark friends. I'm sparking much of the time. Many know about my son's accident (6/17/2010)and the changes that has wrought on my life, my sister Vronique's death (11/7/2012) due to a brain tumor and Vicky's congestive heart failure, diabetes and a host of other problems. I also have been blessed with a new grand-daughter in May 2013 for a total of 5 grand-daughters and 1 grandson-the first and eldest of the grands..
I try to keep smiling and stay positive-not always easy, but the good Lord helps. I love life from infancy to old age.
I retired May 25th, 2012.
My 5 children and 6 grandchildren are an important part of my life.
With the exception of my cholesterol levels and a mobile blood pressure I am relatively healthy. Both my son's care and my weight contribute the occasionally elevated blood pressure. My cholesterol has been high since I was in my 40's and I am allergic to statin drugs which limits what I can take for the cholesterol problem. (I am in gray in the first picture, and turquoise in the second)
1. track all of my foods, striving to get 5-8 fruits & veggies per day.
2. I will walk no LESS THAN 5,000 steps and work my way past 10,000.
3. to be more positive, and supportive to those around me, especially new widows.
To watch what I eat, most importantly cutting back on cholesterol and sodium. Work to change a sedentary life into a more active life, which is difficult for me. Even though retired, I'm knitting and sewing more that makes for a still sedentary life.
I was born in Bedford, Ohio of a Belgian mom and an American GI. I have lived in Belgium, Ohio, Florida and am currently in Georgia. I am widowed and have five grown children, one of whom had a traumatic brain injury June 2010 and for whom I am the court appointed Custodial Guardian.
I like to knit, sew-when I have time and play with my grandchildren.
I'd love to be able to travel again, to go back to Belgium and Austria, to see Ireland, Scotland, Switzerland and Italy.

I understand what you mean. You can't encourage someone when they don't share what's wrong and many people aren't comfortable writing about the bad stuff.
I wish I could reach out and help those having trouble with the new Spark look.
All functionality still seems to be there.
My complaint about the clunky edit buttons has been addressed. Yea!
I also hope they will address the difficulties faced by the visually impaired.
Ironically, I used to have trouble with some of the color combinations/backgrounds chosen by spark friends. With little contrast I couldn't read what I was typing. Sometimes it was totally invisible. So I just typed my message in Word and copy/pasted it into their text box. It was still invisible until the comment was processed and posted but at least I knew what I was saying. No chance of an unfortunate typo to change my meaning.
I remember the rolling scroll bars. I think the reason for replacing it with the team wall was to speed up page loading. I still post my daily messages there.

I took a soil sample from the garden to the Extension office. I knew you could do that but I didn't realize what info they provide you with. It sounded worth it to me. Costs me $15 but if it helps with vegetable production, it will definitely be worth it.
I also stopped at a cheese store and a bulk store along the way. It was a great way to spend a rainy day even if my house does need a good cleaning.
I hope you can figure out what is going on with Erik. Scary for the both of you!!

You should realize that not gaining is success! That's the advice I gave my DD#1 who by the way is one of my MISSING spark friends. Fortunately, I do know how she is doing even if not reporting online. LOL
Just think if everyone just stopped gaining more weight. Our progression to a "biggest loser" society would be stopped in its tracks. Once you determine how to stay the same, later on when your life calms down you can figure out the changes to lose gradually.

Hang in there. I hope things improve soon and stay calm for a while.
Blocker is not doing well. She is sick and old. She is not eating on her own now and we had to force her to eat again today. We got her heart med down but she was stressed and breathing really hard. She is in her house now and is still alive but I am letting her sleep. I don't think she will make it. Hubby is very upset. I hope she doesn't die on my birthday on Tuesday. I don't want that remembrance. She has pulled out of this before but she gets worse every time.
I will keep you in my prayers.
