Traveling a bumpy road!

So much has happened to me since I started SP April 9th 2010. I've lost weight of course and regained some, I've learned to stop eating when full and I've made some great spark friends. I'm sparking much of the time. Many know about my son's accident (6/17/2010)and the changes that has wrought on my life, my sister Vronique's death (11/7/2012) due to a brain tumor and Vicky's congestive heart failure, diabetes and a host of other problems. I also have been blessed with a new grand-daughter in May 2013 for a total of 5 grand-daughters and 1 grandson-the first and eldest of the grands..

I try to keep smiling and stay positive-not always easy, but the good Lord helps. I love life from infancy to old age.
I retired May 25th, 2012.
My 5 children and 6 grandchildren are an important part of my life.

With the exception of my cholesterol levels and a mobile blood pressure I am relatively healthy. Both my son's care and my weight contribute the occasionally elevated blood pressure. My cholesterol has been high since I was in my 40's and I am allergic to statin drugs which limits what I can take for the cholesterol problem. (I am in gray in the first picture, and turquoise in the second)

My Goals:
1. track all of my foods, striving to get 5-8 fruits & veggies per day.
2. I will walk no LESS THAN 5,000 steps and work my way past 10,000.
3. to be more positive, and supportive to those around me, especially new widows.

My Program:
To watch what I eat, most importantly cutting back on cholesterol and sodium. Work to change a sedentary life into a more active life, which is difficult for me. Even though retired, I'm knitting and sewing more that makes for a still sedentary life.

Personal Information:
I was born in Bedford, Ohio of a Belgian mom and an American GI. I have lived in Belgium, Ohio, Florida and am currently in Georgia. I am widowed and have five grown children, one of whom had a traumatic brain injury June 2010 and for whom I am the court appointed Custodial Guardian.

Other Information:
I like to knit, sew-when I have time and play with my grandchildren.
I'd love to be able to travel again, to go back to Belgium and Austria, to see Ireland, Scotland, Switzerland and Italy.

Ginie, Make the World go Away was one of my favorite songs by Eddy Arnold. Always loved his voice.

Had a fun day today. Spent the day at the Swedish Museum. It was our semi annual meeting followed by a luncheon. Everyone brings something and we had decided on a variety of quiches plus some sinful treats! I made one with asparagus and onions which was always one of Jay's favorite only I never bothered with the crust for us. There was even one with salmon. We cut everything in small slices so you could sample each....never made it to each but what I did try were awesome! And I know I ate too much but at least it was mostly healthy and, yes, I did indulge in the treats.

It just felt good to have what I consider a relaxing day. I think it helped to rejuvenate me a little. Tonight, I'm going to relax. I took my youngest kitty out when I got home and I filled all my bird feeders...took me over an hour but the birds are very happy.

Hope you had a good day. I'm going to try to catch up on spark. Take care my friend.

big hugs....Mary Anne

The accountants wife, also an accountant but not a CPA, called at 2 P.M. after I waited all day and explained that - "OMG!! We are so swamped!!" And they didn't anticipate this during tax time?????? She was a total air head and even told me that the IRS is swamped too and that they are probably really glad that I will have to file an extension. emoticon

My brother, a computer troubleshooter for the state of Illinois and his wife, a vice president of a bank are both accountants.

Apparently she doesn't realize I have a high I.Q. and I'm a nurse and a college grad too. Does she really think that I'm stupid enough to think the IRS is happy that I'm filing an extension??? I'm completely disgusted that someone would think I'm this dumb. I'm sure this works with some of their well-healed, less than bright, older clients. You know the old saying, it's best to know your enemy and she has misjudged hers. I told her I wanted the taxes done within 2 weeks.

This was my MIL's accountant and my hubby wanted me to dump him after the last minute crap last year and I wanted to give him another chance. Don't you hate when people make you regret doing something like this??!! He seems like a really nice guy but this is legal stuff and we need dependability and accuracy, not niceness. I just hope he gets back with us and doesn't ignore us. My MIL complained that he would file extension after extension after extension and I thought it was due to her having complicated taxes. Now I wonder. I wish you were here to bite him but then given enough suffering and I can get really mean too. LOL. My hubby will probably be even less nice about it. This still makes me feel sick but I need to let it go.

Thanks, GF! This info really helps me. I am so angry I'm shaking and sick. I am done with this guy after this. Last year I had to go pick up the taxes on April 15, run to my hubby's work and have them signed, run back again and give them back. Driving for miles and taking up a lot of my day. This man is totally undependable, unlike the guy I had before.
