So much has happened to me since I started SP April 9th 2010. I've lost weight of course and regained some, I've working on eating less again , with more fruits and veggies.I've made some great spark friends. I'm sparking as much as I can and getting back to tracking. Many know about my son's accident (6/17/2010)and the changes that has wrought on my life, my sister Veronique's death (11/7/2012) due to a brain tumor and Vicky's death (12/2/2017) has added to things to adjust to. I also have been blessed with a total of 5 grand-daughters and 1 grandson-the first and eldest of the grands.. https://www.fitbit.com/user/25V8W
Y. I try to keep smiling and stay positive-not always easy, but the good Lord helps. I love life from infancy to old age. I retired May 25th, 2012 to be Erik's primary care person. My eldest two try to help at times. My 5 children and 6 grandchildren are an important part of my life. With the exception of my cholesterol levels and a mobile blood pressure I am relatively healthy. Both my son's care and my weight contribute the occasionally elevated blood pressure. My cholesterol has been high since I was in my 40's and I am allergic to statin drugs which limits what I can take for the cholesterol problem. I live with the adage that all is a Gift from God and try to trust Him.

My Goals:
1. track all of my foods, striving to get 5-8 fruits & veggies per day.
2. I will walk no LESS THAN 5,000 steps and work my way past 10,000.
3. to be more positive, and supportive to those around me, especially new widows.

My Program:
To watch what I eat, most importantly cutting back on cholesterol and sodium. Work to change a sedentary life into a more active life, which is difficult for me. Even though retired, I'm knitting and sewing more that makes for a still sedentary life.

Personal Information:
I was born in Bedford, Ohio of a Belgian mom and an American GI. I have lived in Belgium, Ohio, Florida and am currently in Georgia. I am widowed and have five grown children, one of whom had a traumatic brain injury June 2010 and for whom I am the court appointed Custodial Guardian.

Other Information:
I like to knit, sew-when I have time and play with my grandchildren.
I'd love to be able to travel again, to go back to Belgium and Austria, to see Ireland, Scotland, Switzerland and Italy.

Thanks for your support, Ginie!! I keep doing all I can. The physical therapist told me the worst thing I can do is stop activities so I keep on.

I am so glad you were not in the path of the tornadoes. Such a lot of storminess OR people seem to be sweltering in the heat. We had 3 inches of rain yesterday. Lots of flooded streets but it didn't seem to take long for things to recede. By the time I went to the Clinic for my BP recheck, it was dark but no rain and the roads were clear. I passed that BP recheck too but then we ate at Culvers so my on-track day got derailed.

Today is the MRI. It is too late in the day to hear anything. I wonder how long it'll take them to give me a report.

If it weren't for my back troubles, I probably wouldn't question replacing my Fitbit. But it is so hard to move and finding the time just gets harder and harder. Right now the device is being held together with duct tape.

Please say some extra prayers for my dad. My stepmother is asking frequently to be taken home. It is hard enough for him to leave her when we visit without this happening. Plus, we have been applying for medical assistance for a year now. We think we have met all the requirements but the applications come back denied and with numerous entry errors. Yesterday we found out that the new data is scanned but not entered (really??????). Someone is supposedly looking into it but it is so hard to believe them. Dad has no money left so we've all been helping him out but I think that weighs heavy on him as well. I'm afraid he'll decide it just isn't worth living and give up.

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on my “Change” blog and for sharing your own story. The only reason these glasses aren't broken is that they were in my mother's cupboard. After she died, the contents of her house were like a snapshot of my childhood.
