Fabulous at 40!

I just turned 40 in March and feel that I brought it in far healthier than previous birthdays. I'm feeling more energetic, leaner, and generally better about myself. I'm a fairly active person who loves food (cooking AND eating!). This is my year to better focus on balance in life so I don't lose sight of what's important to my health and well-being. I just know that 40 CAN and WILL BE fabulous!

My Goals:
Long Term Goal (see blog posts for short term goals):
- Maintain weight range of 110-115 pounds.



My Program:
Being more mindful about what I eat (and tracking most every bite!) and more focused on making exercise a priority. I try to vary my workout throughout the week with biking, walking, yoga, swimming, and strength training with a monthly goal of 1,500-2,000 fitness minutes.

Personal Information:
Country girl turns city slicker...well not really, you can never take the country outta the girl, right? Grew up in a small (I mean small) town in upstate NY. Have lived outside of DC in Northern VA (yay, NOVA!) for the last 16 years.

Other Information:
Love to read (mystery is my fave), cook (and, of course, eat said cooking along with anything else I can get my hands on), drink a good glass of wine, hike, bike, swim, and walk. Mother of a 19 year old boy who can sometimes be 'challenging' but is always the apple of my eye.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Yes...been backpacking and camping with the scouts for about 8 years. I used to camp with friends almost every weekend in my early 20's. Love hiking too. There are a lot of great day hikes close to me. I'm about 45 minutes from the cascade mountains. Easy to hard hikes. Lots of variety. I did one that gains almost 4000 feet in 4 miles. That was a doozie. I've definitely honed my gear the past few years though. Figured out what's better to have light, what's better to have full size, what's better to spend money on and what you can skimp on. I really like it. We built and slept in snow caves last year. That was an interesting one! Yep...I was the only girl there. It's funny. I've been with these scouts and parents so long we're like family. They were all burping and tooting (especially after chili). It's funny. I'm just "one of the guys" in their view when we're out.

Thanks for your comment on my "Run Slow Run Long" Blog. I try to listen to my body but its hard when she wants M&Ms. I will endeavor to have more selective hearing.
