Gina's Corner

"There is no failure except in no longer trying."

It all began in 2010. I was idly flipping through "Oh, The Places You'll Go" when I realized that I was stuck in The Waiting Place. ("...waiting for a train to go or a bus to come, or a plane to go or the mail to come, or the rain to go or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow or waiting around for a Yes or No or waiting for their hair to grow. Everyone is just waiting.") At the time I was feeling a bit stuck in my job and my ...

Everyone is just waiting.") At the time I was feeling a bit stuck in my job and my weight was creeping up courtesy of Messrs. Ben and Jerry. I decided then that I needed to kick myself into gear. No more waiting!

I lost a bunch of weight, felt amazing, and figured out how to make myself healthy, but then I quit my job to get a PhD. The grad school stress got the best of me and I really let myself go. Now I have a whole closet full of too-small clothes that I would like to fit back into, not to mention getting my self-esteem back!

I am halfway through my PhD program and working to get back down to a "normal" BMI. It's not easy to balance the persistent stress of a PhD program with being healthy but I am determined to make it work.

On that note, I bid you welcome to my little corner of the SparkPeople universe. Enjoy your stay!
