Gina's Health Journey

Although I'm not overweight food has been a comfort and somewhat addiction to me. More specifically sweets. I was born with a disability called Amniotic Band Syndrome or ABS. Although I'm not overweight food has been a comfort and somewhat addiction to me. More specifically sweets. I was born with a disability called Amniotic Band Syndrome or ABS. It has caused me to have missing and disfigured fingers and toes. As a result my self esteem was non existent. Sugar has been one of my "escapes" to make me feel good. It's a total addiction I struggle with. What's scary about this is that Diabetes run in my family heavily on both sides. I have already witness one of my grandmothers die from it right before my eyes. My grandfather also died in front of me due to heart disease.

This is why I want to get healthy. Not to lose weight, because I have been blessed and lucky enough not to have a weight problem, but just to live a healthier lifestyle. I'm tired of the constant headaches, low energy levels, and I even sometimes experience circulation problems. At the age 24 I am heading down a dangerous path and I want to incorporate healthy habits now before it's too late.

My Goals:
Fitness: I would like to work my way up to exercising 5-6 days a week for at least 30 minutes including cardio, weight training and yoga. I have club foot and have had a few surgeries so exercising is hard on my ankle. At times it get so bad I can't even walk some days, so I'm allowing myself to take it slow.

Nutrition: My main goal is to eliminate all sugar from my diet including anything acting as sugar in the body(white pasta, etc) and even honey and maple syrup,
with the exception of Stevia and fruit.

I also want to eliminate dairy and red meat from my diet completely and minimize poultry drastically and a more organic vegetarian diet with occasionally adding fish more frequently.
