Calm Down

I have been a SparkPeople member for over 3 years (!!) but only active since 2008. I lost about 15 pounds and leveled out, but I have a few more "vanity" pounds to lose and I am in fairly bad shape right now, so I would like to get back on the fitness bandwagon -- meaning REGULAR, CONSISTENT exercise. This is not (only) a vanity thing -- I actually need it to control my hereditary high blood pressure which is a major bummer.

Stay within my range

Cut back on alcohol intake of empty calories. More red wine, less beer.

Fitness Goals
Cardio at least 3 times per week (running at least 6 miles per week)

Strength Training at least twice per week

Sign up for, train for and complete a 10k.


My Program:
Eat tons of vegetables and less meat .

Limit processed food, sugar, sodium, bread that isn't worth it.


Plan out meals every week to keep blood sugar & mood in check. Eat plenty of snacks so that I don't end up eating anything & everything for dinner.

DON'T BINGE ON THE WEEKENDS/WHEN I DRINK

I'm 6' tall. I like to write and take pictures of myself.

I have an enormous crush on Jillian Michaels.

You're right about the insane amount of mind over matter that goes on in this town be it career, appetite, general insanity, etc. I find just being out in the world for minutes in LA I will hear at least one person saying what thing they have cut out that has changed their life. I need a little wheat. I need a little dairy. Sometimes, I even need a little protein. Ah well.

Eating more has made me lose pretty rapidly this week. It's strange and counterintuitive - but I can't deny the caloric intake or the scale. Best of luck to you getting your amazonian goddess back. (Geeze - we'd look like different species' - I'm 4'11"). Am friending you, neighbor!
