Michael Pollan says to "Eat food. Not much. Mostly fruit and vegetables."

My Goals:
I am changing myself by realizing that food is to be enjoyed, not devoured.

I will retrain myself to enjoy healthy habits, thus obtaining health as my reward.

I hope that these changes will be so apparent that I will be able to influence many people to have this Sparkly life style.

My Program:
Everyday I am working at adding new positive attitudes about myself and others. I am trying to make myself back into what I once was, only much better!

Personal Information:
I live in northeastern Ohio in the middle of nowhere, which is a good place to be! I live with my husband of 34+ years with our two cats, a dog, and sundry chickens.

We have one daughter who is in graduate studies at the College of William and Mary.

My greatest achievement was going to a foreign country when I was 16, alone. I spent 10.5 months in a town where I did not speak the language when I arrived and no one spoke English. There was no Internet at that time and I only spoke to my biological parents twice in that time. I learned Portuguese as a child would learn it. I became a different person.

I worked for years as an apprentice shoe repairman, a cosmetologist, a custom seamstress, an office clerk, a warehouse manager for an Internet company, a custom picture framer and a land title examiner (which I did the best and longest).

I am an assistant to the Office Manager in a local company.

Other Information:
My greatest pleasure is creating and designing. I work in paper arts, sewing, crochet, knitting, jewelry making, etc.

I am also a gardener, both vegetable and ornamental. I preserve a lot of our food so that we have better quality food.

Reading is also a favorite of mine. My all time favorite books include, but are not limited to A PRAYER FOR OWEN MEANY by John Irving, THE POISONWOOD BIBLE by Barbara Kingslover, CHRONICLE OF A DEATH FORETOLD by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Oh, how can one list their favorites?

Hi there! We're in something of the same boat. Glad you are in touch. No, have not started seedlings yet, but will sometime next month. You? Even though it has been a mild winter here, I am longing for spring. emoticon

Hi. Gus enjoyed your greeting him, but reports that He does not like green beans and thinks it very brave of your Sami to eat them. He likes dog biscuits, for which he is quite willing to do a doggie dance, all 148 pounds of him wiggling in ecstatic anticipation.

Glad you are taking a break from canning. I'm looking forward to a visit from a son and daughter-in-law. She and I will can next week. I'm still hoping to get basil jelly done tomorrow before leaving for the weekend. It will be a new experience - never made basil jelly before, but the basil this year is beautiful and plentiful.

Hi......Just a note to Thank You for sending me the Spark Goodie Key. It was very thoughtful of you.
How is your summer going? I love to be in my gardens, but the heat and humidity have really been something this summer!!! I don't do well in humidity especially.
Take Care and I hope you are doing well.
