This started with a goal to fix the 15 lb weight gain after I quit smoking in 2008. It evolved into self discovery. It has now become my responsibility. I am training for the life I want to live.

I am a photographer, foodie, teacher and counselor. My work is always more interesting when I'm honest about my personal journeys and experiences. My most recent adventure was a bike ride across Iowa, RAGBRAI, during July 2010. The next of several challenges I've set for myself is to compete in a triathlon in May 2011. I realized last year that I needed to get myself in better shape so that I am physically prepared to trek through the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea with my gear and supplies. This is about being as prepared as I can be so that if I need to run, I can do it.

My Goals:
In a quest to become a whole, aware and healthy person, I am charging forward with my fitness and habit issues. I eat very good food. I love real food and avoid processed food. I have a firm belief that the additives in foods are harmful to us and one of the culprits of the weight problems suffered by an increasing number of people.

My Program:
Mon: Run 20 minutes, Strength training full body

Tues: Swim 30 minutes, Spin Class

Wed: Run 3 miles intervals working speed,
Strength training full body

Thurs: Swim 30 minutes, Spin Class

Friday: Run 20 minutes,
Strength training full body

Saturday: Long Run increasing to 3 hours adding 10% to time weekly starting in week 43 at 30 minutes consecutive running

Sunday: Bike Long ride (40 miles in the winter, 70 in nice weather)
Once spring arrives I will only have one spin class and 2-3 rides outside to prepare for tri. After the tri I will concentrate on cycling 80% and running 20% until August, when I will ramp running back up to prepare for a 1/2 marathon in October.

2010 Goals:
16 lbs in 9 weeks:

5K Pace: 7.5 mph
Endurance: 1 hour 10 min

Climbing work: quad strength to keep closer to my pace when riding hills current pace 18-22 mph

Swim 30 minutes of laps consistently, work on stroke

Other Information:
Nothing changes if nothing changes.
