I'm shrinking!! AHHH!
Well I've been a Sparkpeople member for quite awhile. And you know how it goes....You're so motivated to do well, lose weight, get in shape...and then your motivation just kinda flops? Well it happened to me...but not anymore. Back in 2005 I weighed 293 pounds at my heaviest. I had always been an overweight teenager, so it was the norm for me. Christmas of 2005, I decided enough was enough and made a total 360 change in my life. I worked out like crazy, was really strict with my diet...and ...
I worked out like crazy, was really strict with my diet...and totally became obsessed with losing weight. It's good to want to get healthy, but I took it to a totally different level. I weighed myself 5-10 times a day and just drove myself mad. I lost 157 pounds...and then I hurt my back. I could barely move, let alone exercise like I wanted. And then the spiral of depression, lack of movement and poor eating habits cycled right back around and it was hard to get my motivation back. I had worked so hard to reach my goals and felt like it was a slap in the face to to be stuck at a stand still. I ended up gaining about half of my weight back before I realized I was going to end up back in my old body with my old attitude. But I'm not! I got a handle on it...and since January of 2010 I've lost 55 pounds! I have about that much more to go to get back to my original goal weight, but I'm trying to focus more on changing habits, not being obsessed with the scale and focusing way more on other forms of progress. I want my body fat to be in a healthy range. I want my BMI to be below 25. I want my waist to be less then half my height in inches, like Dr. Oz says. I want to fuel my body with delicious nutritious food. I want to learn to cook. I want to enjoy this process of creating a new me, inside and out.
