Imagine how things could be ... then work to make it a reality

I've been on Spark for a while now ... however, in the past 1 - 1/2 years I have been gone. A back injury basically kept me from doing any real exercise ... but time to change that. I gained back about 10 of the 17 pounds I lost. Not to worry though, I just need to get back on track ... here we go woo woo.

Now that I got the touchy-feely stuffs out of the way....I'm Greg.

I live in that other place. "Other" place??? Well...I mean near Portland. Not Portland, ...

Uhhh...not D.C....the other Washington...the state I mean. And while we're at it....let's toss in Vancouver. No, no...not Vancouver BC...the other Vancouver! Seeee...that "other" place.

Hi Greg,

My BSc in in Mining Engineering with a Minor in coal mining. I have advanced degrees in Systems Design, Economics and Mathematics. I took courses in extractive metallurgy and physical metallurgy.

When is comes to the purchase of something that is as high-tech as bicycles, I just consider myself an informed consumer.

I have a large "collection" of bike parts, including stems, handlebars, grips, cranks, derailers, shifters, wheels, hubs, chains, saddles, seatposts, pedals, headsets, cables and tires. I mean, I have lots of tires.

I have a complete set of bike-specific tools. I have experimented with components and geometry and know what I like. Each bike I own has a different purpose; and different strengths and weaknesses.

I no longer have a pure road bike. But I have a multi-purpose cross bike, which suits me better. The cross-bike is the only "compromise" bike I own. All my mountain bikes are for optimized for a specific application. Two are racing bikes. The Bronson is an all-mountain racing bike. The 29" Stumpjumper FSR Expert is an endurance racing bike. Little Cam and Little Stumpy are supreme trail bikes. Little Cam is a full suspension bike. Little Stumpy Is a hardtail. My Canfield is a single-speed skill -building and exercise bike. My 9:Zero:7 is a high-performance snow bike.

My bikes are carbon-fiber, aluminum and chrome-moly steel. Each material provides a different feel and experience. Yup, I know I am a bit OCD when it comes to bikes.

Thanks, Bruce

I remember that from my March visit - raining most of the time I was there! It was fine, though, because it was intermittent and not so humid. Like it rained enough that there wasn't any humidity in the air. It was lovely.

I'm still in the intro of the chi running book. So far it seems to be about finding a way to run without getting injured. I'm all for that so I'll see where this goes.
