I am a Vietnam Era Veteran & an Ordained minister. My late husband was a Vietnam Veteran who had spent a couple years in Vietnam. He also was an Ordained minister. We had been married almost 21 years when he died very unexpectedly. We were raising 3 of our Grandchildren whom I still have. They have kept me going even on my worse days. My granddaughter is now 15 she is the oldest. The middle one is my grandson who is 14. Then the youngest a grandson also is 12 . We have had them since they were babies.
It was and is a challenge and we take it one day at a time.

August 5, 2016 update

Thought I would put a new note in here. We are doing okay here in Hanover. Have not found a place to buy but the person I am renting from has put the house up for sale. But I have found another place to rent. In fact we will be renting the same house we had been in before our move to Kansas City. The tenants that were there are moving out the 7th of this month. I will be moving in on the 20th. Mixed emotions but I have been told they made changes. I will be going through the house on the 8th. It is possible it will need to be painted. So we will see what happens. Kids will soon be starting school and having birthdays.

December 27, 2015 update

Hello friends.. Well I thought I would let you know that I made a major change in our lives.. The end of Sept this year we left Kansas City Missouri and returned home to Hanover Pennsylvania. Renting a house right now but looking for one to buy. It has been a little harder than I thought it would be and sometimes I doubt my decision to come back home. But then other times I am glad to be back. Life without Tom by my side is not easy. But I am still taking one day at a time. I still cry and ask God why but we are hanging in there. We just went through our third Christmas without him. It is still hard.

October 30, 2014 update
It has been a little over 15 months since My hubby went home to be with the Lord. Some days are easier than others. I have shed more tears than I ever thought possible. I still cry a lot. I miss him more than anything. I often still ask Why Lord Why?

VERSE 1 (x2)
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus' Name

Christ alone Cornerstone
Weak made strong
In the Saviour's love
Through the storm
He is Lord, Lord of all

When darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil
My anchor holds within the veil

When He shall come with trumpet sound
Oh may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
Faultless stand before the throne

I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

In your birthday cake, my dear friend, I want to dedicate one slice to love, one slice to courage, one slice to determination, one slice to peace of mind and one slice to fortune. May all these slices come together to form a life for you which is sweeter than any cake in this world.

SOmetimes I feel so discouraged on this weight loss journey. I work so hard and get nowhere. It is those times I have to remember that through Christ I can do all things. this song, written by Geron Davis, says it so well.

Every road I walked had led to nowhere,
Everything I tried had turned out wrong.
It seemed I'd lost a reason,
    To get up every morning.
I had lot all hope and lost my song.
Circumstances said I wouldn't make it,
But that was all before I met The Man.
He put His arms around me,
    I heard HIm say, "forgiven",
And I knew I'd never be the same again.

Then and there, settled and done
    Then and there, victory won
No more walking on my own,
    No more facing life alone,
No more struggling with guilt and despair,
New life began, then and there.

Now my heart is getting restless,
Longing for the day he'll come.
When we've fought the final fight,
And our faith has been made sight,
And we'll stand before the throne and hear Him say
Well done, He'll say well done.

Then and there, settled and done
    Then and there, victory won
No more pain and no more fears
No more death and no more tears
No more walking through the night
For the Lamb will be the light
No more sin and no more burdens to bear
New life began, then and there
