Weight Loss Is About Being In The Moment

Losing weight, just like all the rest of Life, is always about learning to deal with both the expected (and hoped for), along with the unexpected.

Mindfulness has increasingly become an important part of my life, and I am finding that it can be very important for making changes as significant as long-time eating and exercise habits as well as an appropriate attitude for everything I encounter.

Mindfulness has increasingly become an important part of my life, and I am finding that it can be very important for making changes as significant as long-time eating and exercise habits as well as an appropriate attitude for everything I encounter.

Even while using all the traditional methods of losing weight, it's my intent to incorporate a mindful approach as a foundation and as a strength.

My Goals:
I would be very happy to bring in the new year of 2014 weighing the "normal" weight for my height! I can't even remember when that last applied to me :-)

My Program:
Using a sensible food plan, low-ish on carbs (other than vegetables & fresh fruits), mostly vegetarian, with occasional times of salmon and other healthy seafood for the essential omega oils.

Working on increasing exercise slowly, but trying, especially, to remain very mindful during the day (and the evening!) about eating. I want to make careful choices and and stay with focused eating (that allows me to really enjoy and appreciate my food!)

Other Information:
It seems important to me that we learn to value the concept of "enough." When such a time might come that all people reach out to each other--sharing the food resources that exist on this earth, some of us might discover we could eat a bit less, in order that others might eat even close to enough to survive. This planet has the ability to sustain its population, but only with careful choices on the part of everyone. Eating a little less reminds me that I have left some food for another to have. I didn't need all I have been eating. It was making me sick, and leaving others hungry.

Thanks for stopping by! I agree we were very lucky! My Mom was the first woman to go into WWII from NC. When she passed she was the oldest surviving female vet. She was always army! She ran General Eisenhower's kitchen. So I learned how to garden as well cook! I will never let anything replace the memories of knowing how to cook especially since my kitchen is gluten free and when my husband was diagnosised with CD there was nothing to work with like there is today! I found a Fannie Farmer cookbook from 1898 so I could really learn to cook when there were no grocery stores. I am a vegetarian so really enjoy what I grow also!

Thanks for your thoughts and kind words!
