I live in Iowa; I knit, spin, weave, sew. If it has fiber I am all over it. Except for quilting and baskets; not enough time in the day.

SparkPeople was off my radar for a long, long time. But after finding a new way to go I am using it again. In April 2012 I reached my first goal of losing 60 pounds and have been at maintenance ever since. Which is not quite true. If you talked with my coach I was maintaining. But I gained weight back. Right now I am not 160 but 200. It was four years returning but it returned and now I am working to take it back down without the program I used in 2011-12.

According to BMI and current weight charts (which are totally inaccurate and illogical) I was still counted as obese at 161. But right now I do not feel as good as I could. Sooooo, on the trail to lose what I have gained and perhaps go a bit lower to see how that feels.

My Goals:
My biggest goal is to limber up and gain more stamina. The fact that pounds drop off is an added benefit.

My Program:
I have added more walking; taking the stairs going up. It is bumpy going with being consistent with weights.

Personal Information:
Iowa City, Iowa
Enforced retirment in February 2017 which makes me very happy for a number of reasons: 1-more time with DB; 2-able to walk more and not be tied to an office; 3-fibre related things, creating, conferences, etc.; and 4-be outside.

Other Information:
"Make it work" has become a talisman for me. Many times I want to walk away but Tim G's voice in my head will not let me and so I go back into the fray to try and make it work.

    Thanks for the bloglove.

Funny thing about exercise - or any other thing I feel I have to make sure I do. Not that I don't love working out but because when "should" is attached to something I just might push myself too hard. Or quit altogether. Very all or nothing-ish.

Anyway - I plan to take the time (that I now have) to understand better the signals my body is sending me.

I like small business sunday too - or Shop Local Saturday. I pretty much shop all local now.
    Thanks for the bloglove.

I guess as we accumulate the years, we also accumulate the stuff, so the need to get a mega-bargain on something matters less. Funny - when I was young and, essentially, broke, my goal was to make Christmas for $100 - cards, gifts, decorations, and the meal. LOL - I made everything, but I wonder how cheesy my gifts appeared, way back then. Fortunately the only child had low expectations, was pleased by everything and we thought the holidays were fun.

It's just my way to have Christmas vs, say, my sister's. Same budget. Different goals. And who knows. She's a fun gal to hang out with. If we'd lived closer I might have gone with her.

    Or not.

    Hey! Thanks for the bloglove.
We had a beloved teacher in my community who dyed her hair black and wore pink rouge till the end of her life. People still say "But don't do it like Agnes did" when talking about hair color - even husbands will tell their wives that. But then, her own husband would still stand at the foot of the stairs and sing love songs to her - again - till he could no longer stand - so obviously she knew what she was doing.

I have to admit, I'm really enjoying the opportunity to try new colors at last. I always knew I'd have to soften up my choices as I aged but I hadn't thought about makeup changes. As for the grey hair - I really like it - and the cut helps with the thinness. There's still a lot of brown in front and on the sides so I don't know what the full effect will look like - but so far - really good.
