Working for my health!!

I live in Wisconsin and work part time. I enjoy reading, knitting and golf whenever I can. Kids are all grown up and live out of state so just my husband and I working to live a healthy lifestyle so we can enjoy retirement.

Thank you so much for your wonderful message on my SPage! THAT is what Sparking is all about and I am simply paying forward all of the help and advice I received when I started running. You will find that for the most part, the running community has a huge heart. There are those that take themselves and running too seriously, but the remaining 99% are just like you and me.

Keep it going, girl!! You are going places!!

Welcome to your SparkPeople Official 5K Your Way Walk/Jog Program and congratulations on your decision to RUN! My love for running started one day in June 2009 while I was out walking. I grew very bored with walking and decided to break into a jog and immediately loved the feeling. My life has changed in so many ways since that day. I started running at age 50 after never being even remotely close to being an athlete. I am proud to say that I am now a runner! I am a Jeff Galloway runner which means I use the walk/run interval method. I run for two minutes and walk for 30 seconds using a timer called a Gymboss.

It is my hope that I can help all of you in the beginning of your running journey. As I found out, there is so much more than simply lacing up your tennies and heading out the door. If you want to run for years to come, you will need to ease into your running gradually in order to remain injury free. That is where this wonderful program comes into play. It is designed to allow your body to adapt to the rigors of running that it will experience.

More than anything I want you to simply have fun with running. Once you experience that first 5k race you will be hooked! You will come home after finishing and look for another 5k to sign up for. Trust me.
