Monarch of All I Survey

I'm the Queen of my own little castle. Long live the Queen!

Unfortunately, I am also the parlormaid, the chambermaid, the housemaid, the kitchenmaid, the scullery maid, the gardenmaid, the Home Secretary and the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Long live the staff!

I get many fine workouts at the end of a hoe, weedeater or vacuum. I also have a workout friend, and we hike along the river for an hour each morning.

I get many fine workouts at the end of a hoe, weedeater or vacuum. I also have a workout friend, and we hike along the river for an hour each morning.

I reached my goal of high school weight in 2010. That was a good primary goal, because I had been only a little chubby in my teens. Then I stalled on the longest plateau in history. I wanted to lose a little more, but it seemed impossible. I tried EVERY plateau-busting suggestion I found! Just recently I began alternate day fasting, which worked well for my son. Finally I broke that pesky plateau!

I am concerned about developing age-related chronic diseases like dementia , and research shows that intermittant fasting helps in these areas...and a little weight-loss is a bonus!

My fitness goal is to to be the kids' "Extreme Grandma" and just keep moving, so there's no question about when they should put me on the other side of the flowerbed.

Thanks so much for your comments on my blog about cultural differences. I notice the same thing about the Germans too (I have some German family). That although they eat lots of pork, dumplings and other heavy food and drink quite a bit of beer, they're not typically as big as Americans are.

Hope you had a great time at your family reunion in the Czech Republic. I've only been there once, but enjoyed every minute of my time there!

Thanks for reading my blog. It was the first time I ever used beets in a soup and I was really happy with the results. The tumeric spice adds a dill flavor, and the yellow color of mustard. It is a component of curry. It can sometimes be a strong or bitter flavor but in this case it disappeared in the rest of the flavors so therefore added to the savoriness of the soup. I add to all kinds of things and find it often really adds complexity to the dish. In other words it's worth experimenting with.

“Don't wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect.
There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions.
So what. Get started now.
With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident and more and more successful.”
