My Goals:
Long-term goal: Lose enough weight to shift my body mass index into the healthy range.

Mid-term goal: Lose enough weight to shift my body mass index from obese to overweight range.

Spring 2012 goal: Lose 15 lbs.

Small goals: losing the weight 2-5 lbs at a time. I will count each pound loss a small victory :)

My Program:
A good old fashioned program of eating healthy foods in moderate portions with treats in moderation as well. I will go on walks with my children during good weather, do zumba fitness on my xbox and wii fit when I can, go to the gym whenever I can as I have a membership that I have not been able to use much in the past few months that is good for another year..and I will add in some weight training as well.

Personal Information:
My long-term goal is lose enough weight to get my body mass index into the healthy range. I never felt so low as when in February 2012 I got onto the scale and realized that my bmi was over 40 and that I could technically qualify for weight loss surgery. Getting on that scale and finding out that I was heavier then than I had been when I went into the hospital to deliver my son in 2009 was a hard blow to handle as this is the highest weight I have ever been 237 lbs. At 5'4 with a medium/average sized frame this is an unhealthy weight and I run the risk of becoming diabetic. I had gestational diabetes during the pregnancy terms of both my children and for about a year after the birth of my oldest child I was classified as pre-diabetic and placed on medication. I am scared that if I do not get my weight and health under control I could face some very serious health issues.


Other Information:
I would love to make new friends here on spark people. I am also looking to find friends that are parents of special needs children. I am trying to learn to be more patient with my kidlets and manage the stress of dealing with each of my childrens strengths and weaknesses. One child has bipolar disorder and mild behavioral issues. The other has a speech delay and developmental delay pending official diagnosis of autism (we go to see the big dr for official diagnosis in march) he currently has weekly speech, child development therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy, about to start warm water therapy and have monthly feeding clinic appointments.
