Stronger, healthier and happier

Hi...I am a 48 year-old divorced, single mother of a teen and a young adult. I live in Salem, Oregon. I put in a lot of work hours, and over the years, have spent a lot of time running my kids around, so I'm setting up a plan to incorporate more exercise into my busy days, and looking for a way to fit healthy eating into the equation also. Hi...I am a 48 year-old divorced, single mother of a teen and a young adult. I live in Salem, Oregon. I put in a lot of work hours, and over the years, have spent a lot of time running my kids around, so I'm setting up a plan to incorporate more exercise into my busy days, and looking for a way to fit healthy eating into the equation also. My goal is to find that place of moderation where I can change my eating habits in a way that I can stick with long term, instead of short-term stints of "deprivation" that don't work for me in the long run. While I respect and admire those who can eat mostly fruits, vegetables, lean meats and grains, I have not had success for very long without food that I innately enjoy. I am working hard to increase my vegetable intake, and my fruit smoothies help with the fruit!

I have been up with my weight, down with my weight, and now back up :(

Several years ago, I had worked up to an exceptional level of fitness. At 40, I was the fittest I had ever been. I was training to do my first triathlon, and was injured in two different places, and had to rest. I allowed that hiccup to derail me to this day.

I like to walk and strength train. I enjoy playing tennis. For other fun, I enjoy watching football, baseball and my reality show favorites like Survivor, Biggest Loser, DWTS, Amazing race, etc. I also love to read...wish I could master it on the treadmill without getting off balance!! I do listen to audiobooks while I exercise and find that very rewarding.
