¡Hola!

I'm a 36-year old woman in the Seattle area, recently (Nov 1, 2008) married to el amor de mi vida, who is also on SP. We're both working hard at getting back in shape in order to live a long and healthy life together. Trivia: we speak Spanglish in our home, and also out in public.

I'm a 36-year old woman in the Seattle area, recently (Nov 1, 2008) married to el amor de mi vida, who is also on SP. We're both working hard at getting back in shape in order to live a long and healthy life together. Trivia: we speak Spanglish in our home, and also out in public.

I've got a couple of serious health issues (Lupus, lung disease) that meant I had to stop exercising in Fall 2008 as I fought for my life, but I am finally healthy enough to get back in the gym. I cannot wait!

I grew up in San Diego, CA. My entire life, I was a jock. I played every sport there was, and bodyboarded every morning before school or work. I was extremely active. When I injured my back and then got sick with an autoimmune disease in college, I suddenly gained about 100 pounds.

Fortunately, I love to be active when my body is able, and I also eat fairly healthy. I love fruits and vegetables and cooking from scratch. The biggest problem for me seems to be that I need to eat fairly low-glycemic. Over the last few years I have simply felt better if I eliminate processed sugar and processed carbs from my life. I also am a "recovering vegetarian" who still occasionally has a hard time dealing with meat, so I tend to eat it only a few times a week, and even then it's chicken and fish only.

I can't wait to meet some others who are also working on being as healthy as they can.

My Goals:
My goal for now is to lose 50 pounds. From there I will decide about the remaining 50. Realistically I just want to feel good and healthy and strong, regardless of the number on the scale.

My Program:
I'm learning to stay away from processed sugar and simple carbs.

Workouts: 3-5 times a week cardio (bike or treadmill) and 3 times a week strength. Stretching daily.

Since we live so close, let me know if you ever want to walk in the evening. I also go to hydrofit at Southwest Pool, I am trying to get back to going twice a week, potentially on TU/TH at 8:30 p.m. It feels so good to be in the water and the resistence really tones your muscles.
