Ruu's Health Quest

It has taken me over half a century to get a handle on managing my weight. The day after Christmas 2008 I got on the scale to find that I weighed 200 pounds. I made a resolution just for the month of January 2009 to exercise at least 30 minutes a day. I also joined my local TOPS club for support. It has taken me over half a century to get a handle on managing my weight. The day after Christmas 2008 I got on the scale to find that I weighed 200 pounds. I made a resolution just for the month of January 2009 to exercise at least 30 minutes a day. I also joined my local TOPS club for support. It took almost exactly 2 years, but I finally reached my goal weight. For the last two years I have written down everything that passed my lips and totalled up the calories. I tried to keep my calories under 1400 each day although to lose the last few pounds I did have to drop it to closer to 1200 to make any progress. I am trying to learn how to maintain it now and I hope the slower loss gave me time to learn new habits.
I also exercise at least 60 minutes each day using my treadmill, walking outdoors, Curves and Wii.
I would like to lose another 5 pounds to be in a good position to stay under my goal, but I look good and feel good and plan on keeping up what I am doing. Spark People is another tool in my journey.

Thanks for dropping by my page. I love the garden background on yours! My yard is a mess due to Armadillos destroying the grassy areas in the back yard. I wish I had more enthusiasm about gardening.

I just planted three types of hot peppers in large pots this afternoon. My DH loves to grow them so I got them as a belated Birthday present.

I could not resist buying a beautiful large Rosemary Plant. I really hope I don't kill this one. One of the landscaping garden companies here said if you ignore them they will grow. I am thinking I'll plant this one in the ground.

Thank you for visiting with my pets!
I like wii fit too but my disc is missing, I suspect the grandkids last visit has something to do with that!

I've really let my yard go for the last three years, and the landscaping is a mess. I will probably have to spend at least two hours every day all summer to begin getting it back into decent shape!

Even tho my sister isn't real close to my parents, she lives just miles away. We're an hour & a half away & my brother lives on the other side of the country, unfortunately.

It isn't easy.

Growing your own food is a great idea, you know what it's grown in, and where it comes from.
