You are so right, I always forget about the other factors that play in on this weight loss tracker. Water weight, hormones and of course constipation. I did end up stepping on the scale this morning and I did in fact gain some weight. I was disappointed but not so much in the weight gain but more in the fact that I allowed the gain to happen. I joined spark people so that I may change my life style so I could be fit and healthy for the rest of my life. I don't want to call it a diet because I want it to be a life style. I have done well since I joined, I been able to eat delicious meal, exercise without killing myself and simply enjoy life without so many restrictions. I think spark people has helped me a lot and I will continue to log in once a day or twice a day when I need that extra push. I find that everyone is very welcoming and supportive and that helps me a lot. When I tell people I want to lose weight, some don't take me seriously because they think I'm thin. What they don't realize is that thin doesn't really mean healthy. I am only 4"11 and at my current weight, my doctor considers me obese. I was told that for my height I should weigh 100 lbs, I don't ever want to be that thin, I'm Latin, I need my curves. I do want to be at a healthy weight and even though my goal weight will still be considered over weight I feel that's the right weights for me. Thank you for your support.

Welcome to SparkPeople!! This is a wonderful site with so many resources like articles, trackers, and community SparkTeams to help give you support and keep you motivated. See how many SparkPoints you can get each day and this will help you find and use many of the tools of the site. Best of luck on your journey to a healthier lifestyle!

You have to rely on how you're feeling and your nutrition tracking and not the scale so much. The scale is very hard to follow.. I mean sometimes I know I should be down a pound and I'm up two for water weight or hormones or constipation.. You never know. Don't go by that as much.. Just hang in there and keep tracking and also moving.

It's important to remember that it takes 3500 calories to make a pound of fat. That means to have regained your weight, you would need to eat over 31,000 calories OVER your usual diet!

It's really, really unlikely that you've done that. It's possible you might have retained some water, or gained a pound or two, but you know something? Perfection isn't required. This isn't a race, it's not a linear journey, and just like a real road trip, you're going to hit speed bumps and potholes along the way. And that's okay. :)

So, let's play worst-case scenario. You get on that scale, and you have gained weight. What happens?

Nothing. Not a single, solitary thing! You're the same person you were before you got on the scale, and you're teh same person you were before you went on vacation.

The difference this time is you know how to fix your mistake. You shrug your shoulders, and soldier on. Because this isn't a competition, it's not a reality show, and no one kicks you off the ranch if you don't lose more than someone else. This is your life.

How do you keep going? You focus on what's next. You don't berate yourself for the past, you focus on your next decision. What do you do when you get off the scale? You get dressed. And you focus on your next decision, and you make it a good one. Your next snack will be a healthy one. Your next meal will include 50% vegetables. Your next moment of free time will involve MOVEMENT.

And then you look at the next decision. The next, then the next. And you keep going. Because this is just a minor setback, and you will move past it. When I stopped tracking this january and regained 6 lbs that I'd lost... you know what I did? I started tracking again, and I've lost them again. I know what I need to do, and I do it, because the stakes are too high for me to quit now. I have two little girls who watch me, a husband who loves me, and my own life is too important to my family to sacrifice it to the altar of Krispy Kreme.

So what are you going to do? What you have to. Allow yourself your moment of disappointment. Then focus on celebrating the fact that you're still on the right path for HEALTHY LIVING.
