Mel's Place

Hello, I'm Melissa, most people call me Mel. I am here to do something for myself, after a very long and trying year of interruptions in my journey to a healthier me. I don't know where my journey will lead me but I'm here to give it the best that I can.

It's time to move forward and bring some positive into my life after all this negative.

Personal Information:
I am a single 37 yr old woman from extreme small town Kansas. We have maybe 200 people here and that's including the surrounding farms hahaha. No stop lights, 3 churches, a co-op, a post office, and a gas station and that's about it now days, about an hours drive from any Wal-Mart. So now when I say extreme small town you know what I mean. I was born and raised here, in fact I live on the property where my Grandparents used to live. There's nothing like small town life, being able to sit out on the back porch and listen to the birds while watching the squirrels run around....though ya won't catch me doing that right now because it's winter with snow on the ground lol.

I live here with my 2 corgi's Miss Molly Mae and Ranger. And a cat named Pebbles(yeah I don't know where I came up with that name either).

I enjoy reading, crocheting, embroidery, quilting, baking.

I have health issues, lots of them. They make getting healthy a pain in the rear sometime

Thanks for stopping by with encouraging words and advice on my blog. I am getting plenty of calories. Not to worry there! But it was very sound advice. I'm thinking I just need to get tough with my scale. Sit down and have a real heart to heart.
Congratulations on your success so far and I wish you more in the future.

I *LOVE* Betty Boop!! My mom's name was Betty (not Elizabeth, just Betty), and she was called "Betty Boop" during World War II (she hated being called that though). But she kind of looked like Betty Boop, so that didn't help.
Thanks for your comment on my recent blog. I too take thyroid medication (for hypothyroidism), but even if I lose weight, I'll still have to take it. With being hypothyroid, having the leptin issue doesn't help.
The supplement I'm taking is manufactured by Integrative Therapeutics, Inc., and is called "Tyler(tm) Lipotropic Complex." My naturopathic doctor recommended it. I don't believe it requires a prescription. After reading the recommended dosage more carefully (I misunderstood what the doctor said), I'm supposed to take 1 (or 2) pill twice a day after meals (I take it after breakfast and dinner, to keep the level even in my bloodstream).
Good on ya for taking charge of your health at an early adult age. I'm 56 and am finally getting my act together. You'll enjoy life much more and for a long time if you tackle your weight and general health issues now.
Every person needs to take responsibility for getting healthy and staying that way through constant honest assessment of one's own physical, mental, and spiritual well-being and what can be done to make one's life the best it can be.
(I'll get off my soapbox now... emoticon )
