Funny Little Blog

Hi! I'm a college student trying to get fit and slim...I love yoga, women's health issues (I'm a crisis counselor), and all things English-major-related! I want to be a writer for a living, but in the meantime I'm working towards being a librarian or an editor. I'd love to talk books, movies (or weight loss, of course) with any of you. I can also sympathize with LDRs (long-distance relationships), since mine has been that way for almost two years now.

I really want to say that I like my body, and I liked it when I was at my heaviest. I just want to be healthier, and it was with that in mind that I chose my goal weight! It's the healthiest weight for my height, medically speaking. But I don't have much interest in being super-skinny, especially after my battle with bulimia in middle school. I like being "juicy!" And I've done some modeling for art classes at my college, which--trust me on this--does wonders for my self-esteem. If you don't like your body (or if you do!) try it. You might be surprised by how beautiful it looks through the eyes of an artist.

My Goals:
I want to understand the food I eat better, so that I don't just lose weight temporarily. I'm starting to learn that as long as I plan it into my day, it's okay to eat a treat!

I want to reach 150 pounds, which for my height (5'11") is right in the middle of the "healthy BMI" range. I'm also doing body measurements, and I'm aiming for a waist-to-hip ratio of .7!

My Program:
I am walking more and faster (living on campus makes this easy), working out whenever possible, and tracking my calories.

Other Information:
My favorite books are "A Prayer for Owen Meany", "I Capture the Castle", "Fatal Interview", "A House Like a Lotus", "The Bloody Chamber," "Lolita", "Everything is Illuminated", "Pride and Prejudice", "To Kill a Mockingbird"...I could go on, but I don't think I have space!
I love to watch movies, write, and draw. I have a big crush on Zach Braff...but not as big as on my bf of 4 1/2 years, who looks just like him!

Hey I am actually 6'0 and I also want to get down to 150. I have about 10 lbs to lose so hopefully it won't take too long even though it's been difficult sticking with it. I am a counselor too.

I came across your page when I was searching SP Teams. Just ast JLH1026 mentioned their is another tall ladies team that you should think of becoming a part of.

I am also 5'11" and I want to get down to 150. Check out my page!

Hello! Congrats on your progess, your ticker is moving along :) I noticed you created a Tall Ladies team this month but there already was one for Tall Ladies - we have almost 500 ladies and so that's quite a bunch of tall women! I welcome you to join us, it's fun to chat with other ladies that have the same 'viewpoint' :) Jen

THanks for the comment! My husband tells me all the time he doesn't see where I have gained (BUT he is just being nice) I am mostly doing it for myself so I can feel like I felt back then and not feel so down on myself! I am getting there slowly but surely!

Thank you for your comment on being productive as you exercise. I agree, but boy, you sure do have a sore back, legs, abs when the day is through, but what a joy to walk around as the sun goes down and see what you have done.

I also enjoyed your web site.
