My name is Erin and I'm 30 years old. I was born and raised in New York (Long Island). A few years ago I moved down here to beautiful St. Augustine in sunny Florida. I'm engaged to the most wonderful guy in the world, JT (aawww). I love reading, painting, 80's music and making jewelry. I also love playing with my little cat Jade, who thinks shes a ninja!
I was obese my entire adult life, and throughout most of my adolescence. Even in childhood I was overweight. At my heaviest, I was 252 lbs (and I'm only 5'2"... eeek!!). I've tried many many things over the years but nothing stuck. I've been on the "yo-yo diet" as long as I can remember.
Well things changed Xmas of '08, when I got engaged (awwwww again lol). Suddenly I realized I needed to start thinking of my future and my future family. I decided I needed to get my life together and turn things around if I want to do all the things I want to do.
I started doing my best to eat healthy and lost about 10 lbs, but I still needed more help. A few weeks later (January 24th 2009 to be exact) I found this site, and well... I'm addicted! SparkPeople is a wonderful positive site that helps me live life the way I want to! Thanks to SparkPeople, as of 2/22/10 I lost 90 lbs with SparkPeople (103 lbs total) and reached my all-time goal of being 150 lbs (my weight goal since I was 14 years old!)... and it's been awesome!! I maintained my weight for a while, (also with the help of SparkPeople!), and now I've decided the time is right to get down to 140 lbs. Best of all, I've been slowly but surely coming out of my shell :)

Just following SparkPeoples guidelines! Simple as that!!
Here's an overview of what I have been doing -
Eating smaller portions. More fruit and veggies, leaner meats, drinking lots of water, making sure I get all my vitamins and minerals, keeping my meals balanced between all the foodgroups, and making sure to include higher calorie foods in moderation. There's no such thing as "bad" food! Just keep it under control!
I exercise at least 3 times a week, sometimes up to 5 times, powerwalking, light jogging, swimming, step aerobics, strength training, training on an elliptical, cardio dvds, and yoga!

I just got done reading y our story and it is truly inspiring. I am on the same path at the moment and have just finally stopped with dieting and started thinking my thought process. Great information and truly inspiring.
