I believe 'life is too short to spending washing dishes.' Or doing or feeling anything other than what we really want. With your support, I want to lose the 20 lbs I've gained over the last 20 years. I live in Oregon and love the outdoors. I'm a gardener, a fly fisherman, a breast cancer survivor and a traveler. I retired as a physician 4 years ago to pursue my passions. Life is short.

My Goals:
My goal is to Free Dawn. The best person I can be is trapped inside extra pounds, unhealthy habits and poor motivation. I want to make exercise something I crave, not something I endure. I want to make healthy eating a joy, not a deprivation. I want to learn to "look at myself with eyes of understanding and love."


My Program:
1 Drink water
2 Do some kind of exercise daily
3 Eat at least 2 real meals daily, no starving.



Personal Information:
I live with my husband in Eugene, OR. We retired a few years ago, and have been traveling, something I was always too busy to do when I was working as a child psychiatrist. I love gardening, and am a master gardener. I have been fly fishing for years, and have been involved in fishing/conservation organizations. I love hiking and camping, and any activity that gets me outdoors.


Other Information:
Since retiring, which was related to having breast cancer diagnosis, I have traveled to Patagonia (to fly fish), China, Tibet, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and through central America. Last summer we spent camping and fishing in the Yukon and northern British Columbia, and this year we have been doing more local Oregon adventures, with a trip to Hawaii and New York thrown in.

    my goal is to be 150 by 4/17/11. I weighedmyself this morning and I'm at 156... i wonder if I can lose 6 lbs in about 2 weeks?? I guess I'd better step it up huh?? Hey I'm here for you if you need motivation or encouragement and maybe we can help each other get to our goal?

    How are you doing? I'm sorry its so long since I've been on here. There has been alot going on in my life. But things are getting back on track now and they are going to STAY there. I remember that you have always been a good friend to me and wanted to re-connect with you and let you know how things are going and see how you are. I plan on being on sparkpeople every day. I know I can't control somethings in this life, this world but there are things I can- like what i eat and how I treat my body. So I hope things are going well and that we can still be sparkfriends!
