Hi! I'm Fran and I'm losing weight and feeling great! For the most part, I have rid myself of my Fibromylgia! When I was diagnosed in early 2006, I was a 45-year-old college student, and more than 100 pounds overweight. I had moved to North Carolina from Florida in 2003 and I feel that's what started it! I did not do much about it for more than a year. I just figured it was something that I had to live with!
My wake up call came after I went to care for my ailing Mother in the spring of 2007, and was just not able! I was in so much pain that I could barly move myself. Through trial and error, and lots of torment, I figured out that all my years of overeating and junk food and no exercize caused a super build-up of toxins in my system!
I went on a super strict eating program that included lots of beans, rice, salad, vegetables, fruit, and lots of juices! I did not lose much weight and I did cheat probably too much! Had I choose to go with an all organic, all whole grain diet and , I probably would have faired better! I started hiking and my first time was really bad--but it got better, and by early 2008, I felt great! But I started eating pretty much what I wanted again! But no soda and very little McDonalds!
By late Spring of 2008, I crashed again! But this was different. I could barly stay awake and felt so weak--but not in a painful way! I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with boderline type II diabetes! Just my luck! My doctor wanted me to take medication--but I refused telling her that if food caused it, food can get rid of it!
So back on my torture diet--with revisions! No cheating, all whole grains, absolutly no dairy, NO JUICE, no fruit, virtually no meat , (3oz, 3 times a week) and really small portions!
By December 2008, my blood sugar is steady at 100! I've lost 47 pounds--I've got 66 lbs to go! I make sure that I sleep 8 hours a night, and I still have no signs of the Fibro! I still do not have a regular exercize program--that's going to change I hope!
My goal is to loose 105 pounds and learn to feel good about myself at any weight! I want to feel healthy and alive
I'm walking 2 miles a day and want to work up to 5. I'm learning to eat healthy and have incorporated a strength training program. I'm also using this site because now I know that I am not alone.
I've lived in Florida up until five years ago when I moved to North Carolina to finish school at age 40! After 5 years, I gained 100lbs and developed fibromyalgia. I feel good now that the weather is warm. So now is the time to do something about it! I need all your encouragement and support! I love to hike in the mountains, swim, fish--almost any activity in the water! I'm in advertising.
