I found Spark People almost 6 years ago. On April 19th 2007 I got a listserv email that had this site included as a link. A big part of my job is finding good educational websites for our teachers and students so I clicked that link to explore this site. I am so glad that I did! I think I have really changed my eating habits tremendously in the last 2 years, and I have added exercise as a regular part of my life. A big part of my job is finding good educational websites for our teachers and students so I clicked that link to explore this site. I am so glad that I did! I think I have really changed my eating habits tremendously in the last 2 years, and I have added exercise as a regular part of my life. My energy levels are much greater, I find it is so much easier to get up and do things now. I was a serious couch potato on the weekends and now I love being up and about. My health has improved also, when I started my feet hurt every morning and now they don't bother me at all. My knees were beginning to give me serious problems and that has improved also. Not only is my health better but I feel more confident and take more of an interest in my appearance. I love buying clothes! I am still a work in progress, it takes effort to exercise some days but mostly I do it! That is due to this site and the tools it offers.

I am a 56 year old mother of 3 adult children, grandmother of 1. I have been married for 30 years and unfortunately love to eat. Well I wrote that when I first started, I still love to eat but not so unfortunately. I am learning to eat healthy and I do enjoy it. I still love sweets but I am discovering how they can fit into a healthy diet.

I am a little cynical and my humor tends to be sarcastic. I am very realistic, and despite that I am an optomist. I learned many years ago not to dwell on the negative, (easy to do and there always seems to be something we can dwell on) and to count my blessings daily. I still do that and it made a tremendous impact on my attitude.

I reached my first goal of 150 lbs. on 12/11/2007, I reached a goal of another 10 lbs in March 2008. This maintaining thing is a bit of a challenge. I also am now battling perimenopause and losing the last pounds I want to lose is something of a challenge. I have fallen off with my ST so I am focusing on that now. I realize that muscle development is very important so I am definitely working on it. This is such an ongoing process, I am glad I have SP to help me learn what I need to do and to help me do it.

Thank you so much for stopping by to read my blog "Long Overdue Update: The good news and the bad news...trying to figure out next steps" and your suggestions. Some other people have suggested that I try to change up my exercise or try something new, so I am really going to think about that. I also need to start my ST again....have really slacked off on that for a long time. Emotional eating is never easy to get over, is it? I think that will always be an issue.
