In 2009 I started a weight loss journey and joined Sparkpeople. I lost 70 pounds between 2009 and 2011 (I had about 50 more to reach goal). I began running and ran about a dozen 5K Races in 2010 and 2011. Jan-May of 2011 I ran a 5K every month and then... everything went downhill.

First I stopped tracking. Over the summer I stopped running. Slowly, pounds began creeping back, fitness became less of a priority but I did still manage get in a daily walk. ...

Then the voice of the Fat Girl moved back in.... actually she never really left. She was always there looking in the mirror, judging how my body shape didn't really change - it got a little smaller but it was still round. I was still the fat girl. None of the other accomplishments mattered - not the buff legs, not all the 5K medals and race bibs, not the smaller sizes I was wearing. I was still the fat girl...I felt that all the work was for nothing.
So.. old habits came back, new habits slowly faded away.

By mid-2013 I had gained back 45 pounds. I finally woke up and was so ashamed of what I had let happen that I couldn't even come back to Sparkpeople. I began working on being a runner again and tracking my food. I was making a good start and then fell in July while running and smashed my knee. There was extensive nerve damage that is still healing. I've tried to get back to running but each time it aggravates the knee. I am beginning to think there may be more than nerve damage and need to see an ortho.

But.... here I am. I am trying again. I may not be able to run yet, but I can walk and I can do some other cardio and strength training. And I can track my food as I watch what I eat.

Thanks for the Spark Goodie! I am lucky as Ruthann gave me several new tops that I'm starting to be able to wear. My weight loss has almost stalled but I'm still eating the same so I know my body is just adjusting and will start dropping pounds again soon.
