I've done this so many times before, but it's always been drastic: cut calories as much as possible, work out as hard and as much as possible. I used to be a competitive athlete and have always assumed my body would function. It never occurred to me I was breaking my body by how I was eating and expecting it to do everything I asked, whenever I asked. The first clue should have been that I tore my ACL. I was doing a tournament for fun at a much higher weight than I should compete at. But still it didn't register. Pictures from summer travel have hit hard. But my real wake-up was trying to ease my way back into yoga. I physically cannot do poses that used to be easy, simply because I am too large.
I have punished my body long enough. It's time to heal. Gently fuel it properly and move it in weight-appropriate, kind ways.
