Ready to emerge from my 200+ pound cocoon

Being a larger person for my entire adult life and the majority of my childhood I have developed a thick skin and managed to put the most sophisticated blinders on as I was able to ignore my size and deceive myself into believing I wasn't as large as I truly was.

It wasn't until I broke yet another chair that I decided it's time to take off the blinders and face the fact that I am big and will continue to get bigger if I don't do something about it.

I want to shed off the layers of fake smiles, hurt feelings and excess weight and emerge as the beautiful butterfly that I know must be buried in here somewhere.

My Goals:
- Walk without being winded
- Be confident around others
- Not be nervous around children
- Fly on an airplane
- Not be worried about where I'm going to sit if going to a new place
- Weigh myself on a 'normal' scale
- Not give up on myself (again)

My Program:
- Drink 8 - 10 glasses of water a day
- Limit (not eliminate) 'bad' foods
- Track my calorie intake
- Be active daily
- Log on to and communicate with SparkPeople daily - especially if/when I have a bad day

I'm married to a wonderful man.
I love to listen to music, read books and I dabble in writing.
I used to love to dance, swim and bike ride before I got to the size I'm at now.

Just stopping by to let you know that we are going to meet at the zoo at 9:00 to walk on the 25th. We will be wearing green shirts so we are easier to identify. Hope to see you there!

Thank you for your comment on my blog. That's exactly what my roommate/best friend says - that I don't give myself enough credit and I need to step back and look at myself like I'd look at someone else.

I DID dive first into Red Robin burger and fries last night. But I recorded the calories and I am back on track today. I am just trying to keep motivated when I am feeling frustrated. The pictures definitely helped me put things into perspective.

I appreciate the support and understanding!!!! I'm in it for the long haul, even if it feels like it's going soooo slow.
