2013: I will not be very active on SP; I want to avoid the diet mentality and to learn to eat normally, trusting my body's cues.
2012: Followed WW, then low carb, then dieting 2 days a week (sometimes known as 5:2 diet), lost approx. 50 lbs
2010: In spite of being obese, my intent at this time is not to lose weight quickly, but rather to have a more normal relationship to food, to learn to recognise and honour the hunger and satiety signals my body gives me and thereby stop yo-yoing.

My Goals:
2013 - Learn normal eating (eat when I am hungry, stop when I am full). I am not trying to lose weight, but if I am successful, I expect my weight to go down again slowly.

2012 - Initially lose 10% of my weight, compared to my peak 2011 weight. Done.
Weigh less than 300 lbs. Done.
Lose 15% of 2011 peak weight (291 lbs) and 52 pounds in 52 weeks (290.5 lbs) by December 8, 2012.
Not done yet.

Monitor my food intake using Weight Watchers Points Plus.
Gradually increase the amount of exercise in my life; I dream of one day being able to do yoga again and to walk outside daily as I was able to do in my youth.

2010 -To cut my calorie intake by an average of 300 calories per day and possibly lose up to 31 pounds by the end of the first year. Once the weight is lost, to never, ever gain it back. To eat only when hungry, and to stop eating when full.

2012 - Weight Watchers Points Plus
- Exercise at home: Stott Pilates matwork (easiest prep versions), exercise balls and Dyna-bands; armchair exercise.

Personal Information:
I am French Canadian and I live in Ottawa, Ontario.

I have fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and am housebound almost all the time.

I love almost all healthy foods (yes, even tofu, flax seed oil and dark leafy green vegetables, I'm weird that way). I don't really like foods commonly known as junk food, I almost never eat them.

I am very interested in the traditional diets of the people of the islands of Crete (Grece) and Okinawa (Japan), where very many people become healthy and vigorous centenarians. They hold the secret to a truly healthy way of living.

Other Information:
I am an avid reader and greatly appreciate my public library's delivery service for homebound members.

    Hello, thanks for visiting my blog and your encouraging words. What have you learned recently?

    I heard a story about a teacher that gave all his students an 'A', right from the first day of class. The only requirement was that the students write a letter, in the first month, addressed to themselves as they would be at the end of the semester. They needed to describe the thoughts, actions, and feelings that went along with their 'A' rating. In the end of the sememester, the kids lived up to grade.

    It got me thinking; It seems we all live up (or down) to the grade we give ourselves.

    Congratulations on your 43 pound loss. Just KEEPing it off is work sometimes, huh? I hope you are still fighting the good fight and remain motivated. Your comment on my SparkPage indicated that you were doing a lot of research reading into various LC diets; I hope you've found something that helps with the nightly bingeing that you also mentioned. If you've learned anything in this regard, I'd love to know as I have a friend who is currently facing a similar battle -- and I think you know more about it than I do!
    I hope to see your name more often on the 50+ Women's LC team! Staying active can be very supportive in your struggle to lose weight.
