I am back on Sparkpeople again to keep me accountable with my food choices and exercising. I am a mom, wife, student nurse, and athlete (at least in MY mind :) ). I love love love running, and lifting weights, so those are my "go to" activities. I have recently gained a little bit of weight, and realized my eating habits were starting to slip again.
For those who are visiting me for the first time, I will introduce myself: About 13 years ago I lost close to 40 lbs.....and then I lost more....and more....and more until I ended up at 75 lbs with a severe eating disorder. I was forced to drop out of school because of my failing health, I lost all of my friends pretty much, completely lost my self-confidence, was entangled in an abusive relationship, and was on the verge of death. One day, after realizing how scared my family was for me, I decided I needed to make a change. I started eating again!! With some therapy, I slowly became comfortable with eating those "scary" foods, and became interested in nutrition, and passionate about exercise.
Shuttle to 13 years later, I am a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and Certified Personal Trainer, with a degree in Psychology and currently getting my nursing degree. I am a mom to a beautiful 3 year old girl, and I have a husband with a heart that women usually dream about. I am a happy girl!! I am passionate about sharing my love of a healthy lifestyle with others, and I hope to help others with eating disorders once I become a nurse. My message to those out there who think that they are doomed to live a life of misery, or that things will never get better is that these are lies.....life is what you make it, and there is always hope, no matter what!

Yes, I'm back in school yet again......for my second degree now. I'm currently at the University of Windsor in Windsor, Ontario, Canada for a 4-year degree in nursing. Trying to balance being a mom, a student, a wife, and trying to remain healthy can be a struggle, but I'm enjoying every moment of life right now. I'm back on spark in order to keep off the weight, and stay motivated with working out. I won't have time to train for a marathon this year, but I am committed to working out 3-5 times per week, and trying not to stress eat!!
January 26, 2010
Well, I started my marathon running clinic on Jan. 14th, and am loving it! I love running with a group - it keeps me motivated. Last week I had a 30 km week....and it was pretty tough! I'm looking so forward to accomplishing my 14 year long dream of running a marathon this may.

So, I am back!! Yay!!! I missed Sparkpeople and all the interesting and health-oriented people while I was pregnant. Now I'm back and looking forward to getting back into my running and weight training, and spending oodles of time with my new little baby girl, Emma Rose. I'm also looking forward to becoming a personal trainer this year, and I hope to help new moms become fit and healthy through exercise and proper nutrition (I'm a Registered Holistic Nutritionist candidate...will graduate April 2010). I think this will be the best year yet.
July 1, 2009
Well, I am now 38 weeks pregnant, and I'm waiting for the big day to arrive when we meet our little daughter, Emma Rose. I am soooo looking forward to not being pregnant anymore, and to getting back to my running and workout schedule again! I am definitely looking forward to coming back to Sparkpeople to get back into shape (although I've only gained 15 lbs during pregnancy:). I can't wait to be inspired once again by everyone's fitness and weight loss successes!!

I thought I'd update my page a little - I've been on hiatus from Sparkpeople since I found out I was pregnant in October. I'm currently 6 months pregnant with exactly 13 weeks until my due date (not that I'm counting!). We're having a little girl, and we're very excited. I can't wait to come back to Sparkpeople though - I miss all the fun and motivating people!! See you all soon!
December 11, 2008
Well, I've been taking a break from Sparkpeople because my husband and I found out about a month ago that we're expecting a baby on July 15th, 2009! We were extremely, extremely surprised, but we're also very very happy about it! I'm on Babyfit now, but I'll be back in July/ 09 to shed that baby weight!
October 1, 2008
Wow - I realized that in the past month I have learned soooooo much about what optimal health really is, and how to move myself towards achieving it. I am currently in the process of becoming a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, and this program has turned all my ideas about healthful eating & food UPSIDE DOWN!!!
I can't wait to share what I'm learning with others, and hopefully help people feel and be truly healthy and happy - without all the useless supplements (such as antacids, horse-pill vitamins, aspirin, metamucil) and processed, hormone injected foods. Two words of advice this month based on what I've learned through my studies : EAT ORGANIC!!

Okay, so I'm now back from my two week Hawaiin honeymoon, and I need to get myself back on track. I took a break from the food tracking & working out (it felt pretty good)....and enjoyed the buffet on the cruise, and a few extra desserts. Today is the first day of being back on track.....and looking forward to maintaining my weight of 108 lbs.

Another month has passed by and as my wedding day approaches I'm getting sooooo excited!! I'm so so glad that I feel good about myself, that I feel healthier, and that I have the most supportive and loving husband-to-be in the world. Life is good :)

Another update.....I joined Sparkpeople November 1st, 2007 because I had gained 15 lbs in a matter of 6 months, even though I had no idea why. Yet, I was a slave to exercise that showed me no results, and I felt exhausted & hungry all the time. I was really afraid of following a "diet" because 8 years ago I almost died from what started as a harmless diet plan and turned into severe anorexia nervosa. Since my recovery, I had made a promise to myself that I would NEVER go down that road again, and thus I was soooo happy to come across Sparkpeople, its healthy eating plans, and its supportive community.
Through Sparkpeople I've learned how to eat better (by actually eating MORE fat!!...but the good kind :) ) and learned the art of efficient andresult-oriented exercise plans and tips. To date I've lost 12 pounds, but through this experience I've gained so so much more: a new respect for my body and what it can accomplish, a greater acceptance of my unique shape, a new focus on complete health rather than just the number on the scale, and a rejuvenated love for fitness and proper nutrition....so much so that I intend to become a Registered Holistic Nutritionist while I finish my Bachelor's degree next year :) I realize that I've come so so far in my journey & relationship with my body, and I'm pleased to say that I'm finally at peace with it. I no longer feel the remnants of the eating disorder & feel that I have to starve myself!! Food is now pleasurable and I look forward to preparing healthy & balanced meals everyday. If anyone reading this is currently suffering from body image issues, or an eating disorder, know that there is hope and that they are conquerable!! I can't wait to see what the future holds for me and I look forward to helping others escape the trap of horrible dieting and low body confidence!!
I just had a baby July/09, and although I've lost all the weight from pregnancy (it was all baby I guess), I still would like to lose about 10 lbs.
Once I've recovered for a few more weeks, I plan on focusing on gaining strength through resistance training. I also plan on running 5 X's per week on the treadmill.
Running, weight training, flexibility training.
Organic & local produce, organic & local meats. Aiming to get around 110 g of protein/ day, and max of 150 g of carbohydrates/ day.
I have completed a 4 year degree in Psych, and a diploma in Holistic Nutrition. I'm now working towards becoming a BScN, or a nurse, and I would like to eventually become a nurse practitioner (NP - in Canada this is more than a nurse, but less than a doctor). I have a great husband, and a 2 and a half year old who keeps me on my toes.
