A Fitter Mom!

I'm a 48-year-old mom looking to shed 120 lbs and gain some healthy habits for both myself and my family - especially my 12 year old son, who is already overweight due to my very poor example. This will be the year when we live 'as if' we were a healthy family!

I want to lose 139 lbs in the next year to reach my goal of being the active, fit mom I know I can be.

I am moving all of us over to more real foods, joining a CSA in January, and working out in some way every day - even if only for 10minutes.

Thank you for your kind words on my page. It has been an awesome 15 months and I am truly enjoying my new body and sense of empowerment. If I could say just one thing to you, I would say learn effective goal setting techniques. I totally contribute my success to learning to set goals appropriately. I blogged about this awhile back-check it out. I've lost over 100# in the past, and gained it and more back. I wasn't willing to work on my weight until I figured out how to change my life enough to not go through that again. The answer, for me, was making small, small goals and not adding another goal until the first one was a thoughtless habit. This way I didn't "fail" and fall apart emotionally and give up. Instead, I fed off the sense of accomplishment and became creative in challenging myself to see what I was made of. It's been fun! All the best to you. I'm confident you will lead yourself and your family into a better, healthier place. Paste this on your bathroom mirror, "Accept responsibility for my success"
