Fit for Life

All my adult life, I have tried to be fit and healthy. Sometimes, however, it is far too simple to settle into a bad routine of putting nutrition and exercise on the back burner. Life presents so many challenges--- children, husband, job, house, yard, pets---that I find myself last on the list many days. When that happens, I tend to eat poorly, skip exercise, then feel bad about myself. As a consequence, a viscious cycle begins that is hard to interrupt. My goal is to keep my health on the ...
My goal is to keep my health on the forefront of my list of needs, but still take care of all other aspects of my life.
As a member of Spark People I hope to build lean muscle, decrease body fat, maintain heart, bone and joint fitness. My goal weight is not as important as my overall goals, but it would be a definite bonus.
I do love to exercise --both strength training and cardio, so I only need inspiration and encouragement to keep up a better daily routine. Even 20 minutes is better than none on those frenetic over filled days!
I also am a nutrition fanatic, so eating healthy balanced meals is not an issue. My problem is that I tend to give in to a sweet tooth and snack munching habit when I am tired, sad, angry or bored. Unfortunately that happens more often than I would like to admit.
So here are some goals i will try to keep:
1. Drink 64 ounces (8 cups) per day.
2. No eating out of the box or bag--i.e. measure those portions.
3. Avoid simple sugars
4. Avoid processed foods
5. Exercise every day--cardio 30-45 minutes 3-4 days/ week, and strength training 3-4 days/ week, or all muscle areas 2-3 times per week.
Thank you, Spark People for helping me get back to a healthier, fit body and life!
