Hi! I'm Jen...a single mommy of an awesome 18 year old son, Tyler, and a sweet little Chihuahua, named Otis. I'm on a jouney to improve my health and heart, taking one day at a time. I've always given my time and attention to everyone and everything else in my life, and didn't value myself enough to make time for my own health and future. I have wasted too much of my life using my weight as a protection shield...I've missed out on so much! I'm finally making the right changes in my life. I only have one life and one body, so it's time to make the most of it and be healthy!
2012 Update: Okay, 2011 was supposed to be my year to get healthy, but wow...it was a tough year, with the death of my Daddy topping the list of struggles that occurred (now I'm parent-less and it truly sucks!). :( Being an emotional eater, it was difficult NOT to turn to food with all of the stress around me. I learned to ask myself WHY I'm eating...am I hungry or bored or sad? That's helped me consciously think about what I'm putting in my mouth...before I eat it. No, I didn't lose all of the weight I wanted to, but this is a life journey of health and fitness...it's not going to be easy OR fast!! It took years to put the weight on, so I know it will take a lot of work to get it off.
I'm stronger and wiser from all the challenges I've been faced with, and I'm proud to say I've made it through the rain! I know my Angel Parents are looking down on me with love and helping to guide me through life...I can keep that in my heart, ALWAYS!! (I love u so much Mommy & Daddy)...AND, at least I can say, no matter how many pounds I gained or lost in 2011, I know I'm on the right track...and gained a fun attitude towards fitness! Definitely positive results! :)
I've also finally realized how valuable this lifestyle really is! It's one thing to hear people say it, and see their results...but once you get it into YOUR head and see YOUR OWN results, only then do you truly realize the benefits...it's just a different experience! I'm happy to work out and SWEAT now! I'm proud of myself after a workout! I'm happy when I'm cooking healthy food for my son and I...or when making a huge salad of delicious healthy veggies! Love that!! These are definitely changes for the better!!
So, here we go! It's 2012 and I'm super excited to see the progress made throughout the year...and especially how God will bless me...I'm ready!!! :)))
2013 Update: Wow another year goes by? Where does the time go?? I'm happy I lost 20 lbs last year, but really? I KNOW I could've done better than that! I had a lot of distractions, including my son starting college, me leaving my job and son for a move back to Dallas, and relationship stuff (of course) lol. Distractions will never stop in this world, so I have to start learning how to deal and keep pushing forward! Time is a'wastin!! So yeah, it's time (again) to get serious and focused. This weight didn't come on fast and it won't come off fast...it's going to take hard work and effort! But I know I can do it!! I believe in myself and will turn these "barriers" into challenges that make me stronger!!

**Eat healthy and cook my own food!
**No more fast food (unless it's Subway or a salad from Wendy's)!
**Log all calories/fat/carbs/etc eaten in every meal and snack in SparkPeople - BE HONEST!!!
**Stay within 1200-1500 calories a day
**Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day
**Log at least 30 minutes of fitness minutes a day
**Run/Walk at least 2 miles a week
**My awesome son and sweet doggie are my life! I adore both of them! :)
