Fit for life ... this time

I've done this before at least 10 times, this time I don't want to gain the weight again and have to do this again next fall. The First time I gained a considerable weight was in 1996. I'd had an injury and was very unhappy at my job. I ate my way through my anger. I gained about 15 lbs. I took control and started to count calories and exercise. That time I did it on my own following Oprah and Bob Greens book and lost 18 lbs. I maintained that loss for about 1 year. Since then I've been on a ...

That time I did it on my own following Oprah and Bob Greens book and lost 18 lbs. I maintained that loss for about 1 year. Since then I've been on a roller coaster ride. Up and down each year any where from 20 to almost 30 pounds. I've done the zone, Weight Watchers, South Beach. All of them work if you stick to it. I want this to be my last journey. Winter swim suit vacations seem to be my best motivation, but this time a want it to become a life style not a single goal.

Running - The Courage To Start

With every run, you can try to be better. Not just a better runner, but a better person.
Every day that you run, you are one step closer to wherever you're headed.
If we continue to require greater strength or endurance from our bodies, our bodies will adapt.
A momentary indiscretion with food or drink can require enormous effort on the part of my body - My body will have to pay the consequences for my indiscretions.
Effort is not to be avoided; It is to be sought out.

keep going! when i first joined spark, in the first 6 weeks i only lost 1 pound. no joke. i had a trainer and even was stumped. but i kept going knowing that going back to my old ways definitely wasn't going to help me lose more. the following 4 weeks it all clicked and i lost 13 lbs at the end of the 10 weeks.

i did the jumpstart 4-day diet and i must have been eating like crap filled with sodium because i lost 2.8 lbs after the first day and another 1.2 after the following 3 days. it was really hard to stick to that plan though and i was so sore after 3 days i couldn't work out on day 4. since then i've only lost 0.8 but im not gonna quit.

i'm starting the firm express tomorrow. congrats on doing the first day today! i'm excited to start working out again. i hope dieting doesn't get the best of me again. i started the jumpstart diet but by the end of the first day i was ready to binge from feeling so restricted. i did lose 2.6 lbs that night though from water weight and sodium i'm assuming.

i'll check in tomorrow to see how you're doing!

As Dr. Phil so often says, "This ain't my first rodeo." I too have done this before, many times. I don't think I BELIEVED that "it's not about losing weight as much as it's about committing to a lifestyle change." I have found out the hard way, that the lifestyle change has to be a life-long commitment. Congratulations for not giving up on yourself. I wish you luck!
