Shared Food & Fitness Trackers

I'm working to have strong and powerful body, and towards harmony in the way I move and live. Also, good jokes, fun times with my family and my friends, and work I can take pride in. Oh, and helping to move all of us towards a more equitable, harmonious, kind, and happy society. That's it! Just gimme a little of that and I'm good.
Planning and then tracking what I eat. I'm working through The Beck Diet Solution, very slowly. It's a cognitive-behavioral therapy based discipline based on proved methods for changing one's behavior and thinking.
I'm a middle aged mother of 2 who is wondering where all that free muscle tone went? I don't miss being a teen ager, but that part was nice. Guess I have to work for it now.
I would like to have some fun doing this. Hard things just go better if there's stuff to laugh at and plenty to enjoy along the way.

Thank you for the swimming gear and your thoughtful comment. Yes, swimming is not that bead. Though if I let myself dwell on it, that whole getting wet thing...ughhh! So I don't. Dwell on it, that is.

To answer your question about my thoughts on Mike's recommendations on maintenance. My own experience after the first round and now nearing the end of the second round of a very restricted and proscribed diet: I need a break. It's too hard to do long term. It isn't designed to be long term.
The first time I did this weight loss challenge, I stayed with it for 10 weeks. I had a lot of fat to lose. Then I gradually increased calories by adding starchy carbohydrates. I did not go into maintenance though. Adding the starchy carbs and the calories was enough for me for another 12 weeks as I continued to lose weight more slowly. I then went into maintenance for a few months. In June I started to add a few pounds, so I went back to strictly logging my food and handing in my food logs every week to Andrew, my trainer. I lost the weight I had gained (I think it was less than 5 pounds.)
By the end of August, Dr. Mike started another weight loss challenge. I had my mojo back, I wanted to finally get to my goal weight and here I am. I'm very close to goal weight and I am very nervous about maintenance. I'll have Mike and Andrew with me every step of the way. I am also ready to go back to more calories and fruit in my diet. I also have to dial back the exercise on this diet because there simply aren't enough calories to support extended stretches of exercise. If I can reach goal weigh within the next two weeks when this diet is done, I'll be thrilled.
I think the good Doctor Mike makes sense that it is important to include a cheat meal when on maintenance. Who doesn't want to relax a little on a Friday or Saturday night? Or while watching the Sunday football game. It's hard to remain vigilant for so long. But it's important to recognize that maintenance also means more exercise, increased intensity in the exercise, and it means following a plan for the other 20 meals and 7 snacks for the week. And the cheat is planned, too. I also know that I will have to plan, measure, and weigh my food for as long as I want to stay at a healthy weight. Intuitive eating for me means Gaining Weight.
Long answer. I should have made it a blog. Maybe I'll copy it into a future one.

Thank you for the nice comment! I'm not a scientist, but I'm interested in how human mind works : ) I meditate regularly and that helps to have a second between a thought and acting on it.
Also, in this case there was at least a mile between me walking and the bread in the back of my car, so I had ample time to contemplate what is going on in my mind.
Re Halloween candy, I agree with you, saying one big No to all the packs is easier than struggling with indecision every day till Halloween is here. Out of sight, out of mind! It may be safe to set aside one bag for yourself and eat it when all the trick or treaters are gone.
