New Nana in Progress

I am a 67 yr. old retired elementary school teacher with a very supportive husband and 4 young grandchildren. I now have time to enjoy my life and family. I like to walk, golf, try new healthy recipes, do gardening, and socialize. I am on the road to good health and fitness. My biggest obstacle is bad knees. Reaching my goal is not impossible... just more challenging. I joined spark people to make friends, get support, and to have fun on the road to reaching my goals.

I am a carb addict and I have been having a hard time losing. I seemed to be "yoyo" dieting a lot within the same 4 lb. range. Then I heard about carb cycling from Chris Powell to jolt and boost the metabolism. I have done it for the past 5 days alternating between a high carb day and a low carb day. and it is helping immensely. You only need to do it for 6 days at a time and then eat whatever you wish on day 7. Then next day you go back to the cycle.

I gave myself a hula hoop because I am proud of stepping outside of my comfort zone and trying something new. It is hard but I know I can do it. I am excited that I have moved on to level 9 in my spark points.

I am finally learning how to plan and track my food. I went out with friends last evening and was able to eat a nutricious and healthy meal because I planned ahead. I am proud of myself that I stuck to my plan.
