My purpose here on Spark is to take care of me. Since 2009, I've lost 30+ pounds & I'm in better shape than I was 5 years ago. Getting into better shape has meant making some lifestyle changes for me. Just before joining Spark People, I quit smoking. Since joining Spark, I've learned a lot about nutrition and made changes in my diet and exercise habits that have resulted in lower blood pressure, more energy, increased flexibility and stamina, lower body fat percentage, weight loss, and feeling better overall. Plus, I feel good about the way I look, even when I put a few pounds back on.

I'm primarily on Spark to track my nutrition & exercise, keep myself honest about things like serving sizes & doing exercises correctly, & to track my progress. Spark has a lot to offer, in terms of tools, information & support. I am not in this for the points, so I may not be highly involved in the more social aspect of the site.

A little more about me: I love animals, my house is home to 4 cats, a dog, several aquariums, and my family. I'm a voracious reader and I love music. I'm also a sun-worshipper, I love working in my garden and can often be found hanging out in my yard with the barbecue going. My favorite indulgences are sleeping in until noon, or kicking back in my yard with a few beers, & a good book & some tunes. Oh, & long hot relaxing showers with coconut scented shimmering shower gel. ;-D

    I noticed you are an avid reader. Have you read any of the Janet Evanovich series. You begin with "One for the money" She is a very humorous writer. I just started reading her. A friend told me about her. Her next book, is Two for the dough. You get the idea. You tend to fall in love with her characters. emoticon

    Looks like the boys Aunt will soon be joining SP. I hope so, I could never ask for a better website, for help and support to getting healthy and losing weight. Glad to have someone else I know personally here. emoticon

    The sprouted whole grain cereal I love is called Ezekiel 4:9 and I buy it at a local health food store, or in the healthy foods section of one local supermarket (Wegmans, in case you live near one). I like the Almond flavor but they have a few others. It's made by a company called Food for Life and you can read about their products here: I hope you like it!
