I am a homeschool mom of two amazing boys ages 14 and 11. I have been struggling with my weight all my life. Had it under control for about 7 years but got really busy and ended up gaining back the 70 I had lost. I am now 20 pounds aways from my goal and am so excited!! I swim, geocache, do karate and anything else that is fun and active. My goal is to be the fun Grandma someday!! :)
Okay, I think I may have figured out my problem...sugar! I decided that instead of focusing on low fat, I am doing low-sugar (including white breads and pastas) and sticking with good fats like olive oil and I am losing without a lot of stress on how much I am eating. I still keep track of my foods, but am staying satisfied on less!! Have joined karate and the swim team with my boys (they love it) and am still doing weights, dance, and spin at the gym. Since my bday is right around the corner, I am changing my goal deadline to August, when we go to New York on vacation. 27 pounds to go!!
Have been stuck for the past 3 months at the same weight, but am determined to still make my June 23rd goal!!

My name is Vanessa and I have a wonderful husband of 13 years and two amazing boys (9 &13) whom I homeschool. (our first year)
I have struggled with weight all my life but did manage to stay thin for about 7 years while attending TOPS meetings. I found I couldn't do all my mom stuff and volunteer for TOPS so I had to quit and the weight came back and I cannot seem to get it back off. I am now back at TOPS and using the tools on th is site to keep me on track!
Oh yeah...I am going to be at goal weight by June 23rd. My (gulp) 40th birthday!
To lose 37 pounds, fit back into my clothes that I was most comfortable in and wore for 7 years after having my boys.
Belonging to TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly, a non-profit weight loss support group) I try to stay active anyway I can. I joined my son's swimming team and karate class, do a workout program on PS3, going to the gym, biking or whatever, and changing my eating habits. I eat healthy but it's the portions I struggle with.
I am from South Texas (originally from Southern California). I want to see the world someday!
