I'm 58. I weigh 188.5lbs. I'm 5'1". I'm a homemaker who is trying to get a novel written. My favorite things to do (since I was in late elementary school) are all sit down things but I didn't start getting fat until my early 20s. I don't have a favorite sport except fencing and it's hard to find anywhere to fence. I don't have a favorite exercise although I do enjoy Wii Fit Plus bicycling. I tolerate doing Leslie Sansone's DVDs.

I have battled depression and negativity all my life and that just makes doing this all the more difficult. I joined a little over a year ago and left because I wasn't getting anywhere. This time I can't seem to even get started. I HAVE TO LOSE WEIGHT & GET IN BETTER SHAPE!! But every time I get on here I get stressed out and depressed.

Keep me in thought and prayer if you are willing to.

My Goals:
I'm so afraid of setting goals. More often than not they end up being symbols of my failure as opposed to being markers of success.

I want to finish my mystery novel and try to get it published.

I want to lose weight and be in better shape, but I don't like thinking of it as "living a healthy lifestyle" for some reason. It sounds cheesy to me.

My Program:
I don't know what I'm doing as my "program" other than trying to hang around here, do the SparkCoach stuff and hope something starts to get through to me.

Personal Information:
I'm in Central Illinois.

Most of the things I enjoy most in life are things you do sitting down. I didn't choose them for that reason at all - it just worked out that those are the things I like.

Reading, writing, arts & crafts, watching some TV or movies.

Other Information:
My favorite book (since 1966) is "Lord of the Rings". I have a tattoo of J.R.R.Tolkien's monogram on my left ankle.

Thank you for reading my blog "you will know when you get there". I definitely wish I did not have to lose my daughter to learn those lessons but everything about those experiences have made me better. I was finally able to see how it related to my weight-loss and now I am able to accept the blessing of losing 50 lbs and concentrate on changing my perspective about this journey. I'm glad you stopped to read.

While your motivation is waning, just try to make the best choice of what is in front of you and try to move just a little more than you did the hour before. Good luck.

I am glad that my talk to myself sitting on the stump helped you as well. It sounds as though you have been under a lot of pressure. Helping your self get healthier will be one less pressure! You know what I mean.

I love the Ole Time Fiddlers. I use to go listen to them once a month (and dance) when I lived in Oregon. I moved to WA after my divorce to live around my children and grandchildren again and I am loving it.

This is a GREAT group to be in! You will find lots of new friends, all with ideas to help and support you at different stages on your journey, so please don’t ever be afraid to ask questions or for help/support. Even if it seems like a small thing, but it is important enough to you to think about or wonder about, put it out there on the boards, someone will have the answer, or will have been there and can help you. That's what we are here for...to help each other! emoticon
