I just turned 66 and was recently diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and High Blood Pressure. I have generally led a healthy life: I grew up on a farm and was very active as a child. After having 3 children, getting a desk job, and quitting smoking, my usually healthy weight ballooned by 70 pounds. I went to Weight Watchers and managed to lose 60 of that. I am so with you on the artificial stuff. I prefer real apples to putting them into the crisps. I make them with sweet apples so he has no sugar in them either. I like to eat a nice crispy apple or pear. DH used to but suddenly he is having reactions to skins of fruit. He had an anaphylactic reaction so I carry Epipens every where.
