Felidstar's Page of Mystery!

I was diagnosed with Celiac's Disease on July 26th, 2009. Since going gluten-free, my weight loss journey has become MUCH easier than before... and since I've discovered I'm also allergic to half a dozen other things, it's actually gotten to be a huge challenge to find enough to eat during the day! But I'm getting on top of things and feeling SO much better!!!

My Program:
Gluten-free (Diagnosed Celiac's Aug 2009) with other food allergies thrown in for fun :)

Current Allergies:
Gluten

Things I'm avoiding eating:
Dairy, soy, chocolate, caffeine, broccoli, cabbage, and refined sugar

Current things I can eat in small amounts at intervals:
Peppers, carrots, garlic

Things I seem to have no problem with:
Cherries (yah!), most other fruit, most vegetables, corn, quinoa, rice, potatoes, BEEF!!, olive, palm and coconut oil, coconut milk, NUTS.

Outside of being ridiculously mindful of my diet, I also bike, jog with the WiiFit and lift weights almost every day. It's not unusual for me to burn more calories in exercise than my total intake for the day, but I'm REALLY trying to get better about that!

Personal Information:
You can call me Kitty

Other Information:
I have too many hobbies, and most of them involve sitting around :P
Now I'm trying to work exercise in there somewhere.

You've almost reached your goal! emoticon

I'm very strong, even though I am over-weight...I found a few kayak's that have a wider seat! Hope to post a picture of me in kayak this summer even though I haven't lost! emoticon

Hang in there! Celiac can be tough. My daughter suffered with it for years before docs diagnosed her. Congrats on the weight loss!

Thanks for reminding people they should check their health before pushing themselves! I am a big believer in exercise but also in listening to your body! Wishing you a wonderful life in yours. emoticon

Thanks for the info about the gluten free cakes! I'll definitely check those brands out. I usually buy brownies that are sold by local Chamberlin's Market, which is baked fresh at a different location. They are good, but because I've had so much rotten luck finding a GF bread that doesn't leave a sandy aftertaste I didn't want to try my luck with the cakes. I do make a mean batch of GF chocolate chip cookies, so that basically is the only treat I give myself. Finally found a recipe to make GF pizza crust, which isn't so bad. I got it from Living Without magazine for people with food allergies. Lots of good recipes there....

I had to laugh when I read what you wrote about yourself on your page.....I too have found out I'm allergic to a whole bunch of other stuff, so it's a challenge for me, too, to get enough food in....lol....thanks again and good luck with your goals! emoticon
