Time for a Change
I have never been a really skinny person, but in my teens and early twenties I was average- never really got above a size 10 or 12 at the most and never even thought about food or fitness. Then at 24 I had a baby and put on a lot of weight - which never really came off. Then I had a growth on my thyroid and had to have half of it removed. My doctor keeps saying my hormone levels are ok, so I don't take any medication. Then, I think I got overwhelmed and depressed about the weight ...
Then, I think I got overwhelmed and depressed about the weight so it just got worse. I have just been slowly packing on the pounds for the last six years. Once I topped 200 pounds I felt like a monster. I was cranky and self-conscious all the time and just generally preoccupied. I also felt constantly ashamed- especially after eating. I focused on excuses for a long time - the thyroid, the baby fat, stress, etc.. but now I'm ready to move on. Even if there are some obstacles, I know I can lose this weight. While I know New Year's resolutions are usually broken, I decided that a resolution was a good way to start and Jan. 1 is an easy date to measure from! I resolved to cut my calories, write everything I eat down, an exercise 6 times a week, at least. I've tried so many diets and failed, but I really have to get this under control. I feel like it is for real this time.
