Hi, I'm Teresa. I am a 35 year old sahm to 6 kids and working on getting myself back in shape. I've lost about 75 pounds so far and last body fat check was 22.5%. I'm pretty much at goal, but I got a couple pairs of jeans that aren't quite fitting the way I want to so I wouldn't mind losing just a teeny bit more.

I also have a little bit of a pooch on my belly from having kids and that is driving me crazy. I have lost weight everywhere, but that little pooch just wants to stick around. You can't really see it in clothes, well depending on the clothes, but I'd love to get rid of that.

What's worked for me

Counting calories and logging my food. I log all my food. Along with calories I track my protein and fiber too. I eat 5 times a day and include a protein and carb at every meal. Three of my meals I include brown rice, whole wheat pasta, sweet potato, or some other complex carb. The other two mini meals I have a protein and either a veggie or a fruit usually.

Changing my whole families diet- I absolutely had to drag them along for the ride. I have lost weight before and put it back on because I didn't change the whole families diet. I wound up eating separate meals to lose weight and while it worked the weight never stayed off. So now, like it or not, kids and hubby are stuck eating healthy most of the time. They pitched a fit about it and still do, but I think that is probably the best advice I could give any mom on succeeding. Stay strong, dig your heels in, and change the way your whole family eats or you will have a ton of trouble not putting it back on when you get to goal.

Exercise - That is the final thing that I have changed. I am very good about exercising most of the time. I weight train (right now I have a trainer, but I didn't for the first year of my journey). I train with him 3 times a week and then I run regularly as well. I see a l of people want to jump into running and I think some think that's where my success came from, but not me. I firmly believe in weight training and didn't start running until recently. Running is something I do because I enjoy it and it helps me maintain my weight, but if I had to choose between the two I would put weight training first.

I usually strength train 3 times a week full body for 30 minutes. I run 5-6 times a week as well.
