Another Attempt

This is now my third time going through Spark People to get healthy. Things are a little different this time around. I got married March 2011, and gained a little weight after I quit running. I got back into it the next winter, only to have to quit when my joints became too painful to do much besides daily functioning. It turned out my rheumatoid arthritis had come back with a vengeance. This is now my third time going through Spark People to get healthy. Things are a little different this time around. I got married March 2011, and gained a little weight after I quit running. I got back into it the next winter, only to have to quit when my joints became too painful to do much besides daily functioning. It turned out my rheumatoid arthritis had come back with a vengeance. I spent most of this year (2012) trying to make myself better with my old rheumatologist, but he wasn't very helpful. Even said once "I'm not sure if these problems you're having are arthritis related. WTF???

So I got on a 5 month waiting list to see a new rheumatologist, and I think I'm in love with her! I am finally on some stronger medicine (Methotrexate, not too good for you but it sure kicks the arthritis' ass!) and am feeling well enough to work out some again.

I can no longer run, with bone damage in my feet and both knees and one shoulder joint deteriorating, and a bum right wrist, but I am hoping to have success in modifying exercises to fit my needs.

I am planning to do the 30 Day Shred, as well as some yoga mixed in, and taking my dogs on walks to help achieve my goals. I don't have much weight to lose, only 5 or 6 pounds, but I do need to make myself seriously stronger. Stronger muscles with rheumatoid arthritis take the stress off of painful joints. I have also been eating much better these days; less carbs, more lean meats and fruits and veggies. I hope to update regularly here and to keep this going!

I don't feel that I look awful, especially with clothes on, but I've gotten too soft for my liking, lumpy in places (hate the love handles!) I'd like to be able to wear a bikini again without feeling uber-self-conscious, or a dress without funny lumps, or jeans and a tight shirt without worrying about a muffin effect.

In high school, I normally ranged from 115-120, and although I know that some of the weight that I've gained has been from getting more womanly curves (which I love btw...), not all of it is! Plus, I noticed recently how AWFUL my arms look in pictures in sleeveless tops from the side. I wanna be able to look back at pictures from this time in my life and be proud of how I looked, and hopefully think of how good I still look at whatever age I am then.

I am also engaged, and would LOVE to get fit for my wedding next year!!!
