I'm getting lots of compliments about my weight loss through SparkPeople. The first question they ask after the typical, "How are you doing it?" can be summed up as "Why now?" People assume there's a big reason for me deciding to be serious about losing weight. Well, there was. I started this journey because of a high-profile business event in June 2006 that I wanted to look GREAT for. However, I had made goals like that before, for more important events. I've come to realize that I'm just finally ready for this. I honestly think it took me a full year, maybe two, of THINKING about it to really start.
My "diet" hasn't been nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. SparkPeople's tools have helped me fit my plan into my regular life. I have no doubt I will reach my goals and that's a far different feeling than I've ever had before with a diet plan.
Trophies: walking buddy at work (3/20); boss noticed weight loss (3/31); first gush from a friend (4/1); can no longer see my high weight on the scale (4/8); dh asked me—for the first time—how much I lost this week (4/8); can pull on my high weight pants without unzipping them (4/11); HALF WAY—25 pounds GONE! (4/17); wearing size 14 pants today! (4/20); clerk at grocery remarked, "My, you are a healthy eater!" (4/20); neighbors think I've lost a TON (4/21); boss didn't recognize me from the back (4/26); dh said I am "really looking slim" (4/27); no longer "obese," now "overweight" (5/1); reset my SP goals to 165 (5/5); can fit into outfits I wore 10+ years ago! (5/7); made perfect choices on a biz trip (5/10-5/12); Mom sent me a skirt and it was TOO BIG (5/15); bought a size 12 dress today! (5/17); a person I hadn't seen for awhile didn't recognize me (5/ 28); dh said "Wow, there's so much less of you to hug (6/4); ran into several people who didn't recognize me (6/16-6/17); shirt tucked in--first time in over 10 years! (6/20); same size now as a friend who I consider to be thin (6/21); had to raise my chair at work to "fit" at my desk (6/23); wearing size 12 pants today (6/26); bought a pair of size 10 pants---must run a bit large (7/8); wore a sundress for the first time in 16 years (7/15); revised my goal to 159 (7/21); broke my plateau (8/7); surpassed my first weight goal--169--now 167 (8/7); changed final goal to 155 (8/15); fitting into "those" skinny pants (8/18); neighbor didn't recognize me, spread the SPARK some more; stayed on target thru vacation (8/23-8/30); 5000 SparkPoints! (9/1); can finally wear the clothes my friend designs (9/3); passed my second revised goal --165 (9/4); 10,000 cardio minutes! (9/7); a new friend who learned I had lost weight said, "I've always known you as thin." (9/23); bought CUTE jeans and a BELT!!! (10/15); removed "signature" from Spark...basically in maintenance now (10/20); on TV--Spark related news story!--(11/2); sexy jeans! (11/5); met my goal (12/27)!!!!!; new goal set 149 (1/29); no scale for lent (2/21); hubby says I don't snore anymore (3/1); one year anniversary for my "program" (3/6); won my lent challenge! (4/8); joined weight watchers at work to help me keep the weight off! (5/8); twice in one week, two different people referred to me as tall and lanky (6/4); HR VP at work commented on my weight loss and how I've inspired others! 7/26; a friend said she can't remember what I looked like before and she just thinks of me as thin (8/12); saw an old colleague for the first time since my weight loss and he said he had "heard" about by success and that I was inspriring others in the office (9/30); won 4th place in the walk/bike work callenge! (11/12); one year weight loss anniversary! (12/25); committed to a new goal of 149 and weight training (2/21); taking regular belly dancing classes and yoga (3/25); bellydance instructor thanked me for "bringing my all" to each class! (4/14); wore a SLEEVELESS dress to my goddaughter's wedding (5/10); first belly dancing performance (7/18); belly danced for a group on my own (8/20); someone said, "Gee, you've been skinny for a long time now!" (10/31)
My initial final weight loss goal was 169 but I revised that to 165, and again to 159, and then to 155. I was so sure 155 would be it for me but I've since adjusted my goal again to 149. I will be in the middle of the "normal" weight range.
1400 cal/day...I eat about anything I want, I just budget it into my day. I eat 3 meals and 3 snacks a day. I'm hypoglycemic, which makes it a bit more difficult but Spark People makes it easy! I walk on my lunch hour 45 minutes 5x/week. Strength training (mostly ball exercises) 3x/week. Gardening my thighs off every chance I get!

I dabble in all kinds of crafts, read, and volunteer for just about everything.
My nemesis is Diet Coke
I streaked no DCs for 10 weeks and am now in DC "maintenance" ;-)

I decided I needed some inspiration today. I'm fairly new to sp. Your story is inspirational. Sometimes I have days where I feel I need inspiration to continue, my journey. I've enjoyed success down 45 lbs but need to surround myself with people who are positive and keep me focused on my true goals. Obviously i'm in need of some support i'm not getting at home. So I've decided to read some stories about others and it seems to be helping, so thank you and more success on your journey.

You don't have to do it alone, there is so much support here and it's geared to your personal needs. Have you ever sat in weight watchers and heard people take up the whole meeting on things you could care less about. I have. This has been great for me it's always at my fingertips and what ever question or concern is answered in seconds. There are so many nice people taking the same journey. Right now for me I found out I'm doing everything right and the scale is not moving. I feel fitter, prettier, skinnier but no luck in scale. I read from my journaling I wasn't eating enough. I added two healthy snacks and scale is going down again. At a different time all the success I had would of gone wayside to that scale. Friend me we can do it.
