Spark Me Into Shape
Update: Just had my first baby in September and am anxious to get back to working out on a regular basis. I miss those endorphins! I'm a 20-something professional who got married in September 2006. I have gained back almost all the weight I lost for the wedding. I was working with a personal trainer and had made changes in my diet by watching what I ate and eating more balanced meals. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my knees in January 2007 and it has helped re-motivate me to lose weight again. I saw a physical therapist for a while to help me with my misaligned kneecaps which contributes to my knee pain. Losing 10 pounds in 2006 helped me realize that I can definitely do this and I'm looking forward to doing it all again.

My Goals:
Gain muscle and lose fat and have less knee pain. Conquer the 55-miler in the Harlem Valley Rail Ride in July 2008. Improve my speed to 15 mph. Improve my core strength. Improve my posture. Hop on the bike at least 3 times a week and all other days I better be doing one of my DVDs and/or working out my abs/core. Be able to bend forward from my waist and touch the floor with the palms of my hands while keeping my legs straight.
My Program:
The program that worked for me: I weight trained with a trainer two times a week for an hour. We alternated between lower and upper body. I did cardio at least 3 times a week but had been averaging about 4. I typically gave myself one day where I don't go to the gym a week. I find that going to the gym first thing in the morning keeps me on track and I am NOT a morning person by any means. If I can do it, so can you. Current Program: Cycling indoors and out
