-Track and Field in College (late 80s). Sprinter and Long Jumper. Favorite Event: Indoor Triathlon (60-dash, Long Jump, shot put). 175 lbs at my peak with about 8% body fat

-Cycling during Grad School (early 90s). Averaged 30 miles on my daily commute and did a century at the weekends (sometimes metric). Weight lifting at nights: 185 lbs at my peak, around 10% body fat.

Then time/life/inactivity laziness caught up with me. Ballooned to 252 in 2003, hospitalized ...

Up and down since then, using various diets (South Beach, the Best Life etc.). Best weight I achieved was 218 lbs then up to the mid 240s mainly part to an inactive lifestyle (working from home has been my excuse)

No more yo yo here. Joined Sparkpeople on 7/12/09 introduced to it by my wife (MACGIRRL).

Now I am not looking back.

Walk in an organized 5K race (by fall of 2009) - met 9/19/09 -run

Achieve at 100,000 step week

Sustain 100,000 step weeks for a month

My Program:
Walk walk walk

wear a pedometer everywhere

Try for 5K walks 3x a week and shorter walks (may push it if I feel good) in between

Do the couch to 5K (C25K) program to pick up running once closer to 200 lbs
